I have an appointment for them to look at it today along with my rattling window switches. I will let you know what they say. My service guy has been great so far and he is the assistant manager there and I have had no issues getting stuff fixed so far. Let's hope this is the same.

They did nothing. They had a guy try to fix it and it did nothing. He said the next step is a new dash but it is an invasive process and they were not sure it would all go back together perfect.

If it gets worse I will have them replace the dash.

BRZ owner here with the beginnings of this issue. It isn't enough to bother me at this time, but am keeping my eyes on it for whenever it gets worse.

BTW, I park in a garage at home, and use a reflective sunscreen when at work; car has 6K miles so far.

This is funny. I've had this issue since I got the car back in July of '12. I just took the car in to get all the TSB stuff done. They pretty much refused to to all the TSB work, yes pretty much all of them, but they did agree to replace my dashboard. They said it would be complex job and would need to order the parts.

Just a recap here's what they agreed to do:

1. replace entire dashboard
2. work on or order whatever part for the Navigation
3. replace the rubber gasket/lining for the drivers' side door jam
4. replaced the mounting bracket (or whatever it's called) for the Homelink rearview mirror
5. ECU recall

Here's what they refused to do:

1. chirpping noise (HPFP)
2. rough idle
3. rear deck popping noise

So once the part comes in they're supposed to call me. I'll keep you guys posted on the results. One thing I'm afraid they they'll do by replacing the entire dash is that they cause new rattles. I've got my fingers crossed.

Got an update from the dealer today finally. Subaru Canada agreed to replace the dash. I hate that the dash will be taken out (possibility for interior scratches and future rattles) but I can't look at the "bubbling" dash piece any longer.

I'm just happy they finally acknowledged that it was defective.

Goes in for surgery next week when the new dash arrives from Japan. They want the car for two days so "they can do it right the first time" since their techs have never had the dash out on a BRZ before. Fine by me.

My car has a bit of this since when I picked it up, looks a little cheap, will mention to dealer when it goes in for its first service.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if Scion will be as co-operative.

I think Scion would probably be more cooperative. The region Toyota QE/A reps are usually pretty good.

I have the same issue, not as bad, but you can see a spot above the center vent where it isn't flush with the curve of the vent.

Update!

So it took a bit longer than the week Subaru had said for the dash replacement. If anyone is getting this done under warranty, remind the dealer to order the underpad for the dash as well. It's a different part number, and does not come with the dash assembly. No big deal it was just a little more waiting.

Anyways, the new dash took the dealer two days to do, but I was provided a loaner so I was happy that they were going to take their time. They also had to replace my driver side weather strip / door trim because it was bunching up when the window would go up.

Everything came out perfect!! Not a scratch on any of the parts (old and new), and no gaps or rattles from the install. Best of all...THE BUBBLING DASH IS PERFECT NOW! No more eye sore.

To top it off, they installed my JDM red-stitched console knee and door speaker knee pads while they had the car...for free. Nice little touch as I REALLY didn't want to do it myself.

All-in-all, I am very pleased and would encourage anyone else who has this problem to PUSH your dealer. This is 100% a defect and should not be overlooked.
