I can't wait till the dive bar opens again. I just need to talk to someone other than my wife and kid, even if it is about a septic tank, or how the truck isn't running right. Just seeing some faces. And I want to play the machines. I miss normal life.

Well, if your sweet corn gets infested with corn earworms, be sure to collect them up and give them to ol @Ultramaroon. I suspect that he has an old Hungarian cocktail that includes one of them in each glass.

Another TM (no doubt) recipe handed down by his cousin that had visited Mexico -

Ya, I've been wondering how you have been getting along financially, with your income stream from the dive bar being cut off -

Oh I wouldn't mind losing $100 just to play, and talking with Jessie and Donna the bartenders, and the group of regulars. We need human interaction. We are not solitary beings by nature. I miss the face to face interaction, no matter how trivial.

Bars won't open here till mid June.

I also worry how some of the people are getting by. A lot of people here are not rich. They live in mobile homes and live check to check. $12/hr is a good blue collar job. How are they getting by not working?

Bartenders and servers make about $3.50/hr plus tips.

Maybe it's what I haven't been smoking?

As you know, our state is just open under phase I of the re-opening and that doesn't include the pot shops -

Yep, a lot of adjusting and belt tightening going on. One day last week, I came into the house and the family room was dark except for the TV. The lights were off and all the blinds and shades were closed and there was the smell of popcorn in the air. ma-ma was asleep in her recliner and the 3 granddaughters were sitting on the couch eating popcorn and watching a movie on TV.

I ask what was going on and the three ager hushed me, because I was talking in their "movie theater" -

Begs the question, "real" popcorn or microwaved popcorn?

I make popcorn every Friday night, the right way (in a good heavy pot with just enough oil to keep it from sticking).

Microwaved popcorn is banned from my house. It takes no more time to do it the right way. Jiffy Pop is allowed though, if you can find it, they do still make it.

Well, I reckon it was about half way in between. The older ones know how to use ma-ma's popcorn popper.

Brings to mind a popcorn popper I had (still have it) that I used down in our cabin in Connecticut, in the fireplace. My boys could eat it about as fast as I could pop it -

Real popcorn made in coconut oil, just like the theaters.

Amish country popcorn is great. Red and ladyfinger are our favorites. Good deal in their site.

Welp, I ventured out into the wasteland for my weekly grocery shopping trip. Yep, went to Safeway this week, because it is more civilized than Walmart. I masked up in the parking lot, bowed my neck and moved into the store.

About half of the shoppers were wearing masks and all of the employees were wearing masks. The isles were marked with "one way" arrows, which about half of the shoppers were paying attention to.

This one big ol ugly, unmasked, hairy faced man came at me, going the wrong way, and bumped me because he was going fast in the middle of the isle and going the wrong way - He was as big as @Ultramaroon , but hairier and meaner looking. I turned and gave him my meanest Clint Eastwood squint and snarl, but he couldn't see my snarl, so he wasn't effected.

10 years ago, I would have knee capped him, and kneed him in the face on his way down. That's a lie, maybe 30 years ago, OK, maybe 50 years ago -

The store was well stocked, they even had TP, Kleenex and lots of meat. Oh, I do miss hugging my girls there -
