Yesterday we were warned that alot of shops were closing midday today, including bottle shops, soooooo, last night I went to the bottle shop.

With herd mentality in my head, and violence in my heart, I fought thru the crowds and filled a trolley with bottles of Irish whiskey, vodka, and white rum.

If I'm gonna die of this thing, I'm doing it drunk.

As soon as the coughing/sneezing starts, so does the drinking.

i've been telling anyone that's voiced concern about me(because apparently most men die within 10 days of not having a female around to help them?) that i'm too weird to die of something this normal.

i think i'm more likely die by getting my hand stuck in something, or choking on the wrong end of a straw while getting the last part of a milkshake.

I was talking to a younger girl on a dating app and telling her I had plenty of guns, ammo and even several axes ready for the zombies and she was excited for the opportunity to get out there and get some too.

Noticed this was the case as well. I'll probably go out to the store again and pick up some ribeyes.. might as well enjoy myself one way..

Oddly enough, I went to a different store around the same time today, and the meat section was pretty well stocked.

Ribeye and red wine. Pizza with red wine. Salad with crusty bread and red wine. Even though our schedules haven't really changed, my wife and I have been more deliberate about cooking and enjoying our food lately. We're both foodies anyway, but now it feels as if we're giving the covid our middle fingers by choosing to cook and eat the same foods we usually do. My wife works in health care and I'm a student with a kidney transplant. We isolate as much as we can, but we're choosing to not worry about things we have no control over.

Anyway apparently the results will come in 48 hours and then we’ll know whether to go to work on Monday.

Sorry to hear this! I'm being told that the tests can take between 5-7 days now. Did you have any luck getting your results?

Good plan!

That reminds me of back in the Army story.

(@Tcoat, have I told this one before?)

It was a hot day (120 degrees plus) down at Fort Irwin, CA (about 25 miles south of Death Valley) in August. We were on our last day of 4 day maneuver. It was about 0300 hrs and the action had slowed down, so I jumped up on the canvass top of my jeep and took my boots off and taking advantage of the cool of the early desert morning decided to take a snooze.

I had just dozed off when some jackass set off an artillery simulator about 50' from my jeep. I bolted off the top of the jeep, forgetting where I was and that I had taken my boots off and landed on a pile of rocks. Knowing that I had screwed up my ankle real bad, I put my boot back on to act as a splint.

Fortunately, the maneuver ended that morning and we returned to the post. My driver helped me limp up to the aid station (a tent) where this doctor told me it wasn't broken, just sprained and just stay off it for a few days and gave me a handful of codeine pills.

My driver took me over to my quarters (no AC, no fans, tin roof) with the outside temps in the 120s. I instructed him to go over to the class 6 store and get me a quart of gin, then stop at the mess tent and get a mermite can full of ice.

I filled my mess kit cup full of ice and gin and stuck my foot in the mermite can of ice. After the codeine kicked in I took a looong nap.

The next morning one of my Lieutenants stopped in to check on me, brought me some C rations and another quart of gin.

Yes, I recovered.

THE END
