The last home sale in the news a few weeks ago was about a guy paying about $800,000 over asking price. The guy had a few million in Apple stock so he didn't care, he just wanted to be close to work. It is crazy. How high can things go? I certainly couldn't afford my house now.

Funny, when we sold our tiny 2 bed 1 bath house and moved out of the bay area, my wife said "maybe we'll move back when we retire and the kids are out of college".

I laughed at her face...

And here I am considering the possibility of buying a condo so I won't be throwing away money on renting an apartment..and yet I think a coworker just bought one for like 700 or 800k.. in San Jose.. because everywhere else is more expensive.. 800k for a condo?? lol.

Well, you didn't mention the elegant landscaping and the fact that the two lawn chairs on the front patio were included .....

Here is what a million will get you here. The price is actually dropping since they were asking way to much

Unfortunately, I suggest you go to any mortgage site and get a prequalification amount estimate, for a home loan. Then go on Zillow and plug in that amount to their search criteria and see what you can buy in the Bay Area.

It's really sad ..... for most folks. ......

If you can do it, probably a good idea.

Yeah, eventually. I'm probably still a year or two out from being able to. Thankfully, somewhat, my career means I can eventually afford it better than most. But still need to save for a while longer.

Yep, that's the house. Like I said, crazy. And you are correct, you cash out and leave you can never come back.
