You know that saying you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink? I just wish this damn horse would die of dehydration already to make room in the stable, but some idiot keeps sticking an IV in it.

We looked at the highlander. $5,000 more to get the level with the same features as the Ascent, $3,000 less for trade in of Outback, no discount (even though our third car from them) higher interest rate, delivery in maybe 6 to 8 months but no promises, $2,000 non refundable deposit, would not carry quoted trade in value OR PRICE until car arrived. Take it or leave it attitude from sales manager. We left it.

Ascent cheaper for more features (got the Oynx special edition sort of like the old Black Edition BRZs)), more trade in, price and trade in value fixed as of yesterday no matter what happens with market, 6 to 8 weeks delivery, lower interest rate, tow package including hitch thrown in free, $1,000 discount for repeat customer and a fully refundable $500 deposit. It was a no brainer really. There were very few issues with the 2021 so I think it will be fine for recalls.

She took one look at the picture of the Tahoe and said "looks like a truck no way" and that was the end of that.

Yeah def I would of laugh at the Toyota dealer & left w that offer.

For me, I already had deposit (refundable) at Toyota dealer while I was still looking at other HL, Ascent & Sorento. Other Toyota dealer had one available in the color & trim I wanted. Just the had more accessories than I care for, but still within my budget, plus they were selling at MSRP. Trade-in same for both, so didn’t affect my decision.

Ascent Onyx Edi we’re hard to come by. When I was looking around, dealer my have Onyx, but not the color I want or they have the color, but not Onyx Edi. Reg Ascent have way too much chrome to begin w, so good choice on Onyx Edi.

Toyota dealers here have nothing on the lot. The small dealership I checked near work has zero cars. The big one near home has about 5 but they are oddball trim levels that nobody wants.

Subaru had a handful of cars including two BRZs.

We weren't in a hurry since we didn't want anything until spring anyway so were able to order the blue Ox.

Be just like Paul Bunyan.

18 foot pontoon. At 2600 pounds it was just within the Outback's 2800 pound limit. The Wilderness would indeed be better at 3,500 but the Ascent is still way more at 5,000. The Wilderness also doesn't have 7 seats which was something else we need through the summer.
All in all the Wilderness would have been a better choice if doing more off road stuff but what we really needed was space and towing.

Wife has been looking for a new Forester Sport, preferably in that dark magnetite grey metalic. However, there has been nothing available for months. I tried to get her interested in the Forester Wilderness Edition because there were a couple still for sale in Ontario. Oh, and one was that gorgeous Subaru autumn green metallic. BUT… the Wilderness Edition is not what she wanted then and they're all sold now. We find out that the factory is shutting down the end of February and even if she placed an order there is no guarantee it’ll be filled. If it was it’ll be 4-6 months before we see it. Our local Subaru dealer just got a truck load of new vehicles in. In talking with the salesman and the sales manager we learned they have over 60 new vehicles coming in in the next two months. However, every last one of them is already sold. The salesman checked and found that there a lot of unsold 2022 Crosstreks out in Vancouver (entry port for Canada). It just so happened that they had a couple of Crosstreks in the showroom ready for delivery. One was the top of the line Limited with lots of extra added options. She took one look at the all leather interior and said I’ll take one in the Dark Grey. Well not quite, she hummed and hawed over it for two days. She went to the dealer this morning and wrote up a deal. Depending on things she may see it in as short as three weeks. Or, it may take six. No special deal other than 1% off finance rate for loyalty. This makes it her third Subaru.
