I had contacted Cyrius Garage a couple months ago and will be getting a 4.88 installed sometime this year. Same rough quote $500 for the gearset and solid pinion spacer. $86/hr... plus probably some additional cost for shims and such...

Just gotta not be working 7 days a week 13 hour days to be able to get the car down to him.

Seems like we have 5 people at the moment.

So roughly $1200 all together at pat cyr before groupbuy rate. I'm waiting for a quote from my mechanic, might be able to get a cheaper labor rate. Apparently he has a connection for final drives but not sure if they have 4.88 available.

Anyone here end up getting those group buy prices all in with shims and install for Weir 4.88FD yet? Would be very interested if price is right

It's taken 2 months but I've finally got my FD from Weir. I ordered everything sans bearings.

So I've gotten the car back with the 5.29 gears. Please keep in mind at the time of install the gears, MFactory 1.5way LSD and AL driveshaft were installed along with the Whiteline bushing inserts for the diff and subframe.

All parts were installed at Cyrious Garage and Pat double checked everything to ensure it was ready for track use.

The drives differently, I don't think it's actually any faster then before but boy is it different. The car accelerates very smoothly now and you can pull though each gear very quickly. I would say now it's a 3rd to 4th car instead of a 2nd to 3rd car. First gear is reserved now for burnouts, tractor pulls, donuts and stump pulling. It's now also almost impossible to stall the car. The car does 115kph at 4000rpm now on the highway.

The driveshaft does have a bit of a whine which only seems to be apparent between 80-90kph, I don't know if it hits a sweet spot of resonance but it's not very noticeable at any other speed.

The diff has transformed the car into something I've never experienced before. Controlling a slide is a lot easier now then before. It does make some clicking and clacking noises with sounds like something is bouncing around in the trunk. Corner exit is a lot different then before. I haven't had much time to play with it to give a proper review.

I will be heading to Shannonville tomorrow to give it a proper break-in and review. If anyone has some time tomorrow come out and see it for yourself.

Driving the Shannonville this morning AC on (no recirc) windows down going 115kph at 4000rpm yielded 7.5L/100km. I measured this by reesting the odometer and having a full tank near my house and filling the car before entering the track and checking the output of the pump. Not relying on the cars computer.

My stock tires are basically finished and we couldn't get any comparable runs to our times from last year. So I still don't know if the car is faster then stock.

It was my first attempt at drag racing a RWD car today and My best was 16.0 @ 145kph according the the SoloDL.

On the road course the car has a lot more rear grip. The car was understeering at corner entry and over steering at corner exit. Coupled with the toasted tires and my neglect to adjust pressures maybe this can be resolved with some new rubber and attention to pressures.

Oil and coolant temps on the highway were 185F for each after 45mins of constant cruising so I doubt other then the extra rpm there is probably very little extra wear on the motor.

(I have an oil cooler and koyo rad)

5.29? Is it auto or manual? How you liking it?

Car is a manual, I don't drive it much but it takes some getting used to the 4000rpm cruising on the highway. The car "feels" great, though the jury is still out for me if the car is faster or not.
