Break Dust Prevention?
Just recently got some new brake pads. They are wonderful, however they release a wee bit more brake dust than the stock pads. Before it was weeks before I needed to give the wheels a good wash. Now it is enough to where my white wheels are a shade of black within 2 to 3 days of work commute alone.
Anyone have any recommendations on how to prevent the buildup? I don't know if there is a good spray, wax, etc. I don't mind cleaning my wheels; I do so regularly. But to keep its white shine I would have to wash them down after every work commute, which is a wee bit much. |

Part of the price of performance pads. You could wax/coat in OptiCoat or something else the wheels to make it easier to wash off. You'll still have to wash them of course but it'll be easier. If you have a pressure washer it's even easier.

Pretty much wax your wheels.
And you know....white wheels, white car, = dirt magnet. Nature of the beast.

Had a buddy tell me about an Armor All product for wheels. I have EBC yellows and they dust pretty bad. I tried a wheel wax before and it worked ok but the Armor All Wheel Protectant seems to work pretty good. You have to put it on after every wash but it's pretty cheap and effective for keeping dust off.

Heck. Really no calipers. Somehow missed that bit from pic . Though then again .. why one needs disks there if front brakes are not functional w/o caliper (for lightening reasons? for lessening rotational weight?) ? :/

Lol it's because those rotors were dummies and actually covered the realy brake caliper/rotors. Stock brakes on an old Jetta with 19" wheels looked odd, so they wanted to fill up the space.
