New Nissan

Follow the link to Auto Express, first I've heard about it since the URGE concept a while back.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/au...ake_shape.html

Finally, my hopes might come true! It's looking like we'll get the Toyobaru twins, Nissan's actively working on something the same size, and Mazda's got the Kabura that they REALLY need to not screw up but just freaking make it already!

Let the competition begin!

N.A.

Maybe they skip S16,17,18,19 and go with S20. lol But seriously, if sports car sells goes up, I bet Nissan might think about making another Silvia

Agreed. I bet that even as we speak, there's a design process going on at Nissan right now, just in case the toyobaru sells well right out of the gates.

Once out, if the FT is an early hit, expect Nissan to trot out images of a potential S16 within 6 months.

I don't think they're releasing anything soon. Like someone said already, they were going to make one to actually be released before the 86. Maybe in about 5-10 yrs.

I have a dream:

Three way comparison making the rounds in all the car magazines: Toyota FT-86 vs Mazda Kabura vs Nissan 250Z...

I've been saying for years they should make cars like these, and FINALLY it looks like someone's listening! All three companies need to grow some stones, and actually make it happen.

One thing needs to be said:

The FT-86 is almost/pretty much a shoe-in for production. I don't see any reason why the FT WOULDN'T actually make it to dealerships, seeing as how its received so much press-coverage and support from motorsport enthusiasts world-wide. Also, the current CEO of Toyota is dedicated to reviving Toyota's sport's heritage.

With that being said, when it finally does come out, it will essentially be the only car in its respective class. (The miata and SK2 are pretty much in the same class, but those are roadsters.)

I would find it hard to believe that automakers like Mazda and Nissan would let Toyota and Subaru have this market (RWD, compact, hard-top coupe) all to themselves. Theres still a few years yet to this car making it to your local dealership, so don't be surprised if Mazda and Nissan have a few cars tucked away to show off at future auto shows. Cars they intended to produce.

True, true. Mazda might bring out MX-7 Concept (NA Rotary Engine, but bout same size with Miata), Honda might bring out New Beat Concept (instead of Kei car change it to 2L AP1 engine). Nissan might bring out 550 Concept (Like Datsun 510, but has new SR20DE engine). And maybe Suzuki will release new Cappuccino.

Well it's all my guess and dream. lol

+1
Mazda and Nissan aren't blind or dumb. They see the huge attention this car is getting at the show and in the automotive world. I bet they already have things in the works. It always happens like that... one manufacturer comes out with something exciting and everybody ends up piling on. It's like that way with SAVs / crossovers right now
