Well i've made up my mind, i'm going to sell my ca-fi knock off and join the N7 crowd. I've held back until now because there doesn't appear to be an easy solution to making a backup camera work(its already installed, why not keep it). Yesterday, however, i stumbled onto THIS. Basically its a single din receiver with a small 3 inch screen that accepts a camera I'll use that head unit for the radio/camera/ipod/flash drive type of stuff and leave the N7 hooked into its aux in and use it(N7) as my torque/nav/movies(only while parked ) display.
So just a few things are on my mind at the moment. Is trimming the metal supports absolutely necessary? I'm not totally against it, but i'd rather not if i don't have to and since the HU doesn't have a cd drive it should be shallower....right? Secondly, what is the best way you guys have found to fill the gaps? both on the N7 and the lower HU? It seems like everyone has done there own thing, but does anybody have any tips? I should be ordering the N7 and the HU in a couple of weeks, i'll keep you posted. Thanks guys.

i was going to get the same deck! but both the 901 and 701 does not have bluetooth media streaming...that was the main reason i didn't go with this deck. also i did a mock-up and felt like when reversing, the shifter would block the screen. but anyways if those things are not an issue then i felt the same way about the cutting the metal support..but there was no way of fitting the deck in with out (IMO). i haven't filled in the gaps for the N7, but it seems to be alright for now until i get time to 3d print them. the bottom i am going to use this [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007WW68K/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com: Metra 89-30-0900 Din Trim Rings, 4 Pack: Car Electronics[/ame] <br> also doing this installation i didn't know there was a cigarette outlet in the glove compartment |

Be sure to post your gap filler solution, I'm anxious to see how it turn out. How much of the metal do you actually have to cut? Its been a while since i've had my dash all apart and i don't remember exactly how they are placed. Is it just a little clip of a few mm or do you have to cut it in half?

Whats all up cost going with this tablet route? The cash isn't concern just really curious. I went with a Kenwood DN990HD cause of its' android base and so far so good. Just waiting on their updates and the OBD2 cable to get real use out of it...

Curious on the nav functionality. Can you post up a pic of this in action?
