Umm you have $400 a month after paying your bills? I think your next mod should be a savings account and/or accountant

Don't do a damn thing. Drive it, learn how to drive it well. Upgrading can wait till you have a bit more cash, but upgrading tires, and exhaust is a must.

Sorry to be a buzz kill but I would save the $400 or at least spend half of it on mods and the other half in a savings account. I know it tempting and modding does become more and more addicting but nothing is better than being able to have spare cash for emergencies. Good luck.

Put it in a savings account.
But if you absolutely have to mod the car, spend the $40 on the Perrin shifter bushing. The slop in the stock shifter annoyed the hell out of me. Theres a huge difference with the Perrin part. The lightweight crank pulley looks cool and was easy enough to install, but I don't feel a difference with it at all.

Thanx everyone for yalls advice & believe me I know its not a lot of money month. & I'm building my savings account again. I had 2k in there but spent it on the down payment. I was originally saving to pay off one of 2 school loans I have out. & I got into this car really upside down from my last. I know it may have not been the smartest move but I really wanted something to enjoy again. I had a 2011 accord sedan before this & a 99 miata before that. Not since the miata have I been so happy & excited to mod a car out. After rent, elect, school loans, car payment, phone, internet, & gas for the money, that's all I have left. But on a happyer note. I should be getting a dollar or 2 of a raise next month to maybe bump up my pay by as much as 100-200 more a week. (i get paid weekly & make 70+hrs a week.) But I definitely wanna get outta my school loans soon to free up $200 a month. Thanx for yalls input btw

Unless he is putting away a lot more than $400 a month he won't be retiring early or be rolling in it anytime soon. As long as the guy isn't going into debt I don't see the harm in him having some fun while he is young.
Once he gets older, married and has kids things like playing with cars becomes much harder. I have no regrets about my youth playing with cars, spending all my extra cash on parts, shows and traveling around with my new car family. |

Indeed. I drove late 80s Hondas partially because I love the model but also because I had no car payment. While owning them I paid off all my debts and then saved until a car came along I couldn't pass up. I put down 10k on the brz and have a nice nest egg in the bank.
Having new stuff is great feeling but I can tell you that being on top of your finances, and not living check to check feels 1000 times better. This is something that took me time to realize, so I can't fault anyone for making their own financial decisions. Just wanted to share mine.

Funny, I didn't think the title of the thread was "Preach to me about financial security".
I'd say the perrin crank pulley first, then save up for a little bit and find someone in your area with the ecutek cable and see if they will let you borrow it to flash your car. If so, get the Visconti tune. You'll save the $ on gas within 2 years. |
