Xero-limits intake if you have E85, or Perrin CAI if you dont and the nameless metal intake pipe add a lot of whine.

See thread for details and video.

Do you have a loud exhaust?
This could be covering up the sound making it less audible as well.
Stock air box with Cosworth filter, then the stock Sprintex plastic intake tube/pipe. I am having a custom aluminium intake made, which will use a aftermarket cone filter though.

And yeah, I have a loud exhaust ACE Alpha header with overpipe, catless stock FP (gutted stock cat) and a Agency Power catback. But still, it should still be more audible than it is, at least when looking at videos of other cars with stock intake and loud exhausts. There is extremely little info on the Tribodyn oil I'm using, but what I've found would suggest the oil lowers the whine..

But yeah, going to buy a boost gauge first and foremost to see if I even have the 10 psi my Raceseng 72.5mm should give me. If the boost is good, then I'm at least happy the blower works as intended

That aluminum pipe with cone filter should add some good whine.
Its very possible the oil is reducing it. i don't think many people use/have it besides people who have rebuilds from jon bond. So could be why they are louder and you aren't. I was thinking about getting some for next time i change fluid.

How do you like the 72.5 + E85, does it feel like you'd expect 10+ PSI at around 275whp?

Haven't tried the E85 tune yet haha, I still have half a tank of gasoline in it since last year, and haven't had the opportunity to drive the tank to empty yet. So honestly I haven't gone WOT through a whole gear yet even..

Im waiting for some parts so I've only test driven the car, missing the front bumper and other parts, so dont want to drive it too much. Still waiting for my Mishimoto oil cooler for example.

Once the car is complete again I'll drive it harder and on E85.

Are you running flex fuel?

The whine really kicks in at WOT above 5k RPM, so that could be another reason.

Looking more into that oil is making me really want to get some...

No, but Xero Limit set me up with one pure gasoline tune on Map 4 for situations with only gas in the tank As soon as it's empty I'll switch to Map 1 or 2 who are for pure E85

Yeah the oil is supposed to lower the temps in the SC, which is never a bad thing!

Good to know! I'll more than likely be getting one whenever I have to rebuild the SC.

i wonder if Breather Vent, 1/8" NPT, 7/16" dia. would help accomplish basically the same thing and just screw that in instead of dipstick. Or maybe something similar to help bleed out some pressure.

So I ended up using a brake bleeder screw that I modified. Not sure if 1/8" NTP will fit. I used an M10-1 bleeder screw, chopped off the top and jb welded a piece of filter screen.

Just need the aux input harness, same one used for flex fuel. I use the Evap one bcs I’m 2017, I believe 2012-16 can use that or the 02 sensor one. Wire the 0-5v output from failsafe to that harness and When your failsafe is triggered it will pull timing and basically change to a non meth tune. So you’ll basically get two wot tunes. So you could theoretically run with no meth if you wanted and just put it in for special occasions but it’s cheap and only used under your set boost settings. I use the 250cc nozzle and have it set to start at 5psi and 100% spray at 13psi. With the 72.5mm pulley I’m making just over 11psi so at full boost I’m at about 80% pump duty cycle which puts out 400cc +/- 50cc. With 69mm you probably want 5psi on and 15psi max for similar output. Failsafe is set to 300-500cc really only need it for leaks, or pump stops or meth runs out.

AEM wmi
AEM failsafe
AEM filter
Aux input harness
Snow performance flow solenoid
1/8npt tap for 1/8” hose barb x 1/8 male npt (you’ll tap map plate to get boost pressure reading for wmi device)
You’ll also need a few tap a fuses, have to look at instructions for exact amps. (I also found a small plastic Tupperware container cut it down taped the edges and cut a notch out for wires, drilled a few holes in it for zip ties, used this for a new fuse box cover fits and works perfectly)
You’ll want Some kind of gauge pod I used the air vent one so all wiring is perfectly hidden.

I put AEM controller in glove box, have everything wired and routed on passenger side and all wires, and hoses that go to engine bay through the noise generator hole. Snow performance solenoid is mounted inside footwell (had it inside engine bay by battery but the noise of it opening caused false knock so moved it inside and fixed that problem.)

Mounted tank and pump in trunk, pump in spare tire well using some rivnuts.
For the Tank mount bracket I used
uxcell 300mmx25mmx4mm Stainless Steel Straight Flat Fixing Mending Plates Brackets 2pcs
And TEJATAN 2.5 x 2.5 Corner Brace Set with some plastic spacers between bracket and car and some thin foam between tank and bracket, bolted on bottom tank holes and zip ties top tank holes to bracket. Spacer/foam is to eliminate noise/rattling.
Can take some pics later if you like.
Just take your time and follow instructions do it right the first time and once it’s setup you set it and forget it. Think this covers everything.

Other kits and setup methods this is just what I did. Ptuning has a clean easy kit but I didn’t want an engine mounted kit.
Mike from xero-limit gave me a bundle deal for most of this and helped me with questions on setup and did all my tuning. Would definitely recommend him to anyone. Great guy.
Thats some good info... thanks for sharing its always appreciated. I screen shotted for future referance lol...
Will keep you posted for sure....

Good idea. I’ll probably do something similar with a m10x1 to 1/8” female adapter. What is that filter screen called exactly can you buy a small piece of it someplace?

I think they are called bronze filters.

I had one that came in an air line filter I got from Harbor Freight. I just cut and flattened it and shaped to size using a wheel grinder.

Well, I installed a boost gauge and my Sprintex is boosting as it should, thankfully Still can barely hear it in the car, but my loud-ass exhaust isn't helping haha.
