Car payments suck shit. This car is pretty awesome but sometimes the thought of being locked down for 60 months is just depressing. I mean, I can afford it and all but I would have a bunch more disposable income if I had just stuck to a car <$5000 and my mr2 would be well on its way to 600whp and decked out.
Still though, this car is pretty bad ass. Came out giggling like a school girl the other day after a nice snow fall and a drift session in an empty parking lot.

You can find a cheaper one under 20k thats for sure. sub 20k with 20-30k miles isnt a bad deal.

This is in Providence but has low milage and is just under $20k -- Add that it's used and you can haggle. Add the $7,000 down for vehicle trade in and you're doing quite nicely

How much are FR-Ss in your area?
They were considerably cheaper when new and still should be. Look for a higher mileage FR-S and it may be enough cheaper that you will feel more comfortable buying it. (I got a '13 FRS with 29M last July)

My current monthly expenses are $250 for rent, about $30-50 for utilities, $87 cell phone, $120 for students loan bill. I just started working in IT and i make 31k a year before taxes. I got an insurance quote for $184 from progressive.
everything you said adds up to $691. That doesn't include your monthly car note, gas, and food. Also it doesn't include going out for fun expenses and misc expenses. You make about $596 every week, gross income. I wouldn't buy it. You have a free car already, that is paid off. Don't play Catching up with the Jones, or in modern terms, catching up with Kardashins. You don't want to live paycheck to paycheck just for a silly little car. |

I agree don't buy the car. While you could swing it, save that money you would spend on the car note and enjoy life. I promise you as you move up in IT so will your pay. In a little over 6 years I have nearly doubled my salary. Don't worry your time will come
