A high ranking industry insider has leaked an actual photo of a finished production model of the much anticipated second generation 86 to tcoatautobullshit.com.
The insider who declined to be named, stated "We know how much that crowd loves their wheels so we gave them an extra set."
In a surprise move the engineers at Subaru went with the Finnish built Wärtsilä RT-flex96C, the world's largest and most powerful diesel engine. With fourteen cylinders this sporty power plant can generate 107,389HP with more than 7,000,000Nm of torque. It unfortunately still is not a turbo but this writer is confident the aftermarket will fill that gap in short order.
It is expected to be coupled to a 26 speed F&F racing manual gearbox.
Through the extensive use of Vibranium in all structural components the weight is expected to be reduced to under 2,000 pounds.
In keeping with the standard Toyota and Subaru naming practices the new generation shall be titled the "Series Plum".
Expect to see these on the lots in late September of this year. The editors and staff at tcoatautobullshit.com can not wait to get their hands on one of these puppies and see what it can do against those pesky minivans that keep kicking everybody's ass!

Thanks for posting your impressions, I'm expecting to do something similar but in my case it's going from a 2013 FR-S to a 2020 BRZ. Very soon, since from what I understand, production is coming to a close.

I'm curious what you found annoying about the HU. Not responsive? Badly organized? Or ???

I'll be getting a base BRZ which doesn't have all the niceties your FR-S Hakone does, but is the HU the same? It can be difficult to find pics of a base interior to check.

Thanks for your advice.

Kind of interesting how Canada still has the base BRZ trim for 2020. I looked up a 2020 BRZ base that's for sale in Calgary, AB and it looks like it has the same head unit as the Limited BRZs.

Thanks for finding that pic and confirming what HU is used. I'm kind of surprised that the base model has navigation. At least I assume that's what the "map" button on the left side is for. Unless it's a non-functional tease for us cheapskates who aren't springing for the Limited.

It sounds horrible. It bypasses the woofer amp for the subs and they are woefully under powered for the speakers used.
Subaru uses a different HU.

Ah, gotcha. Even if the Subaru one also sounds bad, that's not a problem for me personally. I rarely turn on a car's audio system. Usually just twice -- once when I buy it to make sure it works, once when I sell it to make sure it's still working.

I don't have a long commute like you do.

Thanks.

You don't have a choice. The audio system is on by default. There is no off switch, at least in my tS. All one can do is turn the volume down to zero. :|

Mine has an off button.

Edit:

So does yours.

That turns everything off, no screen, radio or anything except the backup camera. For example, you can not have the GPS on and the radio off. You can only turn the volume down to zero as I stated.

That's odd. The Pioneer radio in the '14 (I have the '14 radio in '13) turns off audio with that button but it does not turn off NAV. In fact, none of the radios in any of our cars turns off NAV with the power button, although the others are all aftermarket radios.

Yes but... Mute isn't off. Mute only stops the audio from going to the speakers until you turn the car off. Thirty seconds after the next time you start the car the radio will come on at the same volume it was at when last used. Why should I have to hit mute after starting my car? Every other car we have ever owned has had an on/off switch for the radio/music system.
I did have the recall done. At least now with the updated software it doesn't blow my eardrums out like it did when I first got the car.
