I found the opposite with respect to seats:

FR-S > Focus ST > Fiesta ST

But perhaps I could stand to lose a few pounds. Lol.

That's a $5000 dollar difference with a new FR-S. Could be the deciding point for a lot of folks who are poor like me
I'd say save up the extra 5k and get an FR-S/BRZ. The difference here is chassis, mechanical grip, balance, and looks. The FR-S/BRZ has a much higher ceiling in terms of performance and panache than a Fiesta.

I decided to get a Fiesta ST. lots of fun, you can carry 4 people has the convenience of hatchback and it has the balls the frs doesn't have.

And at the end of the day, you're still left with an econobox turd...

I had a really hard time choosing between the Fiesta ST and the FR-S. The main pro with the Fiesta is it has waayyyyy more torque and it all comes in right around 3k which is VERY good for driving around town. It also handles way better than people here are giving it credit for. Even though it's FWD it was very easy to get it to rotate and the turn in was ridiculous. The Recaros in the Fiesta, although they are a $2000 option, are very comfortable as well. Plus, as you said, it's quite practical.

At the end of the day though the FR-S won me over. I liked the "on rails" handling, I think it looks miles better than the Fiesta and the fact that it's RWD means it has more potential when the time comes to make some big power.

Both cars are at the top of the heap as far as fun goes in the 25k price range.

Looking at the track numbers, they looked a little weird to me. So I manually inputted them in a calculator:

FORD: 25.891 + 31.939 + 30.252 = 88.082 s = 1 min 28.082 seconds. They had this correct.

BRZ: 26.352 + 31.948 + 29.791 = 88.091 s = 1 min 28.091 seconds. They had this one wrong. So in actuality the Ford won.

The writer commented on this. The segment 3 time on the BRZ in the video is wrong.

Ok, so I wrote this story while suffering from the worst flu of my life. Plus I'm dyslexic (true story!). The third sector time for the BRZ is 29.491, not 29.791. So the total lap time is in fact 1:27.791 as reported, I just typo'd on the third sector time. My apologies.

Here are the correct numbers:

Got to ride in a Fiesta ST this weekend as my buddy who owns an E46 M3 test drove it. I agree that the low RPM high boost torque hit did feel nice, but despite what Fatt Marah says, neither of us agreed that the car was better than an E46 M3. I would not take it over an FR-S or BRZ either. It is a small econobox. I was struggling with where to put my elbow/arm since there was so little interior room.

That's kinda how I felt when I test drove a Fiat 500 Abarth.

I felt like I was driving a very fast recliner sofa that's on cocaine since the driving position was extremely high.

I've had an extended test drive of a Fiesta ST and have driven an FR-S twice. The two cars can't really be compared.

The Fiesta ST is a "hot hatch". It feels like exactly that. Folks who remember the early days of the VW GTI, Honda CRX Si, and such cars will really enjoy the Fiesta.

The BRZ/FRS evokes the spirit of great RWD sports cars of the 70's and 80's. Datsun 240/260/280, RX-7, Toyota 2000GT, etc.

The Fiesta ST is a fantastic car and a lot of fun to drive but it doesn't have that same raw "retro" feel of the BRZ/FRS. The way you have to wind the motor out, the seating position, RWD, and the rather spartan interior....all conspire to give the BRZ/FRS the "pure" feeling that is very hard to find these days.

via Motortrend

FRS 1/4 mile - 14.8
FWD Econobox POS 1/4mil - 14.9

What balls do you speak of? Oh you must mean the 200lbs/ft of torque the FWD cant handle...

If I cloned myself, and my cloned self bought a fiesta st...(maybe something went wrong while cloning, so cloned me bought a fiesta st for some reason)

and we both went on a drive(me in my FRS, cloned me in fiesta st), and came upon a hot woman, and we both invited her into one of our cars, the hot woman would get in the FRS.

10 out of 10 times.

Therefore, I choose FRS.
