Unhappy Corsa mid-pipe resonator touching subframe?

When I had my coilovers installed the tech noticed the resonator on my Corsa mid-pipe was touching the subframe and noted nothing could be done. I installed it myself without issue and didn’t notice...

There is a small “browning” effect happening and not sure if I should be concerned? I was thinking of simply putting some heat tape on the body between the exhaust and the resonator. Will this work?

Thank you, as always!

You can try rotating that pipe section so the bend section near the diff faces more downward. That may push the resonator farther away. I can't recall that being an issue for me.

I was able to change the exhaust tip position by moving that up/down.

So maybe I just put the mid-pipe on the wrong way? That could be an easy fit. Would I need new gaskets if I loosened, rotated, and retightened?

You'll be fine. There is only the one gasket where it meets the front pipe. Mine was in good condition after 2 years.

I will have a look at my system In the basement when I get home. It's possible the first mide pipe section is upside down where it bolts up to the front pipe. I recall there being a slight bend which would definitely effect alignment further down if it was wrong.

I'm fairly certain the rear slip joint section of the midpipe has the exhaust hanger attached. There would be no way to mix that up. But you can rotate it a bit if you notice one exhaust tip sticks out farther than the other.

There is definitely a bend in the first section. Check to see which way it's oriented. I believe the bend is meant to shift the pipe towards the passenger side of the vehicle.

I recall mine sitting close in that spot. You could try loosening everything up and wiggling the metal exhaust hanger on the rubber bushing thingy to pull it away.

This is really helpful. I guess I have my weekend project, thank you!

Update: loosened the mid-pipe to front pipe flange; pried the resonator away from the body; retightened; all good in the hood now
