Those of you who are going to be driving their cars through the winter - are you taking preparations? I am currently shopping for winter tires.

I just run winter tires on the stock rims, wash and wax and call it a day.

I think I'll be doing this instead, with the winter tires, and a nice coat of wax.

Bilzzaks and weathertech floormats, and a little extra weight in the trunk.

Rally sport mud flaps yesterday, and weather tech mats soon to be purchased.

Edit: un-ordered tires cause apparently all the reviews that were good actually suck. How is it so difficult to find good information on winter tires. I guess I get to go back to the store.

Let me know what you end up going with - in the same position with regards to winter tires... debating just getting all-seasons, since I don't actually drive in snow that often; mostly just cold roads...

Which ones did you order?

I just placed an order online for General Altimax Arctics in 205/50/17.

goodyear ultra grip wrt.

tire rack promoted these very well with the surveys and then I found the tire data and was shocked at how crappy they were compared to other winter tires with stopping and acceleration distance.

Got my new Blizzak WS mounted today. Lots of good snow tires out there, but hard hard to go wrong with Blizzaks their reputation is well earned.

Down side is I'm back to tires that just feel squidy all the time. It's like all the precision in the steering is just gone.

It does make the car look like its ready to tear across some snow though.
