Gearbox noise normal?
How much gearbox noise is normal for this car? There wasn't any that was very noticeable until around 3k miles when it suddenly became very audible. It can now be heard distinctly upon accelerating over 2.7k rpms. I'm okay with the sound if it is normal; my only concern is its sudden appearance.
I tried to take a video of it, but it couldn't be heard clearly. |

Similar yes. It's a whining sounds that gets higher with the rpms.

It sounds similar to this from 0:16-0:22 seconds.

hmmmm........the gearbox in my 2013 doesn't "whine" at all ....... OR, I can't hear it.
I'd suggest you check the transmission fluid. Maybe change the fluid to some of that more/better stuff they talk up here on the forum. That transmission in the video sounds sort of like straight cut gears to me. humfrz |

I am experiencing something similar but around 3500 rpm's and only in the last 500 miles or so. I probably need to change my fluid, I do quite a bit of highway driving and its been about 31K since the last service.
