The samples posted are well above that.
My point remains that the guys that run home with their new car and drain out all that “crap” initial fill shouldn’t be in such a rush.

I have known about this hood flapping effect since the very beginning and with all the meets I've attended, never thought to ask others in person.

Do the hood and fender lines match? Mine do nicely. Is it possible that the front clip is high? I'm talking about the hardware that screws together over the radiator and such. Not sure if I'm using the right terms.

I can’t see my hood while driving. Problem solved.

My hood matches the fender down the sides. By "flapping" I see more of a vibration visible at the passenger side edge of the hood. I either need to be looking for it, or the sun needs to be reflecting off the edge of the fender just right. I think for a while I had my hood stops a bit too high and maybe the front corners warped a bit over time?

My eventual solution will be latches and/or vents, but I'm procrastinating to see how much I actually want to mod the frs lol. 9 years and counting...

my hood doesn't 'flutter' or 'flap' per se.

the sides of the hood forward of the strut humps will visibly raise up from the quarter panels about a 1/4"-1/2" at any speed over about 45mph. air is definitely running over the top of the headlights and raising up the hood

lately i've noticed that the hood towards the front is about 1/8" raised over the side panels, and i could've sworn it was closer to flush/even when i originally got the car.

my plastic front bumper, i've got no issues with alignment with the hood for that. but my plastic bumper cover is also pretty loose from curb strikes, so any alignment issues there are pretty easily faulted elsewhere.

Is this Moly concentration in Engine oil? In UK we have a very popular oil brand called Millers and this is their used oil sample analysis for my car. I have a few more, always Moly around 1000 PPM. Name: Screenshot_20220821-213140_Gallery.jpg

THIS IS NOW A BITOG THREAD

Maybe the corner stops are too high. I've never tried to see how far I can lower mine before they no longer touch the hood when latched. Hmmm...

Double check that the small rubber bumpers out on the edges of the hood are adjusted too. These can help with fluttering out near the sides.

Looks pretty stable in this video, but maybe it is not showing the area that flutters?

Though I have to admit, I always wondered about this gap above the headlamp and if it was sealed off to air flow or not. If not, maybe that is the issue?

(Yeah, I know the frontbumper is not fitting correclty in this photo, but it was the best one I could find quicklyh to show the gap I described)

There are seals, little angled flappy things mounted to the underside of the hood to route the air around the corners. I don't know how effective they are or if they're even in play here.

Stone. Guards.

Raise the corner stops. Too low it will flutter, too high it’ll look stupid. All about finding that middle ground.
