Just bought 628 from a Portsmouth, Virginia dealer. Salvage title. Was totaled in a front end collision, no frame damage. Dealer specializes in repairing totaled BRZ/FRS as well as some WRX and Hyundai Genesises.

I not an expert on such things, but just curious why a two-year old, $30K car would be totaled-out without any frame damage?

Not exactly sure to be honest. Unfortunately the dealer wouldn’t disclose exactly what was replaced/fixed, which did worry me. He just pointed to the passenger side bumper and said that’s where the impact was and airbags did not deploy, corroborated by carfax at least. But the car only had 7200 miles, and I did get it checked out by a third party before fully committing.

Let me preface (not to be a hater) , but I don't care what car it is, too many variables to consider with salvaged title vehicles , some things may be disclosed... but we are talking humans who what to sell something (worth 1000's ) , so some info may very well be kept hush-hush

Definitely, I don't disagree. I'm aware of the risk I took, but the price was right and the car was local, a big plus. I didn't take the dealer's(or carfax's) word for anything, and had the frame measured, engine mounts checked etc. It's not a great warranty but I had a month to drive it and find any problems as well. Resale will suck but I'm hoping this will be a car I keep for a long time

Yes, good plan , just enjoy the ride and maintain.

Keep an eye out for electrical issues , as many salvaged vehicles (could be water damage and/or for other reasons) show these symptoms.

I found a RS2.0 manual #629 for sale about 400kms from where I live with about 36,000 kms.

i'd like to purchase one but Its a bit too early for me to get another car.

Im wondering if anyone here owned this particular one? Its lowered, perhaps more than 1inch, seems a bit too low for my taste.
