Lexus GS-F teased.
Lexus Teases New F Model Ahead of Detroit, All Signs Point to GS-F
We're not saying it's a GS-F, but it's a GS-F. There isn't much to go on from the teaser Lexus put out ahead of the Detroit Auto Show. The photos shows some sporty-looking components and bodywork, and the press release just says that it will be a performance-oriented F model. That could mean just about anything, but there are some clues which point to it being an F version of the GS. For starters, the RC-F debuted recently, and bringing out something to slot just above that would make sense. The RC-F also already uses a lot of GS components, so from a technical standpoint it would be an easy transition to make. But probably the most important clue is that spy photographer Brian Williams announced on Twitter in no uncertain terms that the car is definitely a GS-F. He is just one man, and he doesn't say exactly how he knows this, but being that was the most likely possibility for this car to begin with, we're inclined to believe it. But whatever it is, we're certainly curious to see another high performance car, and it doesn't much matter exactly what shape it is. They're still missing: -Entry level sports car/M135 fighter. CT is a hybrid and its not gonna do much to move the needle anymore until they sportify it some more and/or add a gasoline engine to it (2.0 turbo seems a good fit here) -IS-F/M3 fighter. Last one got killed in favor of the RC-F (which takes on the M4). This GS-F is going after the M5, but they'll need to bring back the IS-F to take on the M3. -An F'd up SUV. Im not sure they're even going to bother with that. Track ready SUV's are stupid and are nothing but status symbols imo. -Those 4 door 'coupes'. I still don't understand this market at ALL. Its just their 4 door sedans with swoopier bodies. -Those sport SUV's like the X6. I still don't get those cars but people buy them for some reason.... -Z3 fighter. Not sure if they'll have one of these. They never really did before, but could use one I think. -CLK fighter. I think its coming, that LF-LC is supposed to be it. |

The Chaser/Mark II family led to the current Mark X, which has much more in common (in terms of dimensions and sportiness) with the IS than the GS. I consider the "Mark X 350s Gs" Toyota's closest answer to the 335i, except it only comes in an automatic. You'd have to buy a rare Mark X GRMN to get a manual . Anyways, it seems the closest thing to a "4 door coupe" in Lexus's existing lineup is the IS 350 F-Sport.

Nice.
from the article: With 467 hp the 2016 Lexus GS Fis under powered compared to its competitors BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 but it is a few hundred pounds lighter so this could make it interesting. 21 pictures in the gallery . |
