JP from Vancouver. Currently own a WRX, a big Initial D fan, previously lived in Japan, and have also owned a Z car in the past so I've got lots of reasons to be into this car (the boxer engine, the hatchiroku chassis designation, the RWD layout, etc etc).

On one hand, I can't wait for this car to come out. On the other hand, I'm glad it's a ways off because I won't be able to buy one for quite some time (and I don't think I'd want a first year model anyway).

Either way, I am stoked about this car!

N.A. from TC,
Currently driving an NA Mazda Miata, year-round in MN. With the hardtop and snow tires, driving in the winter is more fun than the summer - kind of.

I hope the Toyota FT-86 will prompt Mazda to launch their Kabura and that will get Nissan's ball rolling on a realistic version of the 'URGE' concept. Why can't we have the Japanese create and sell to this great niche market? Small, cheap, front-engined, rear-wheel drive, two-dour, four-seat, lightweight, stylish, fuel efficient, Holy Grail of useful sports cars...

Mazda brought back the small roadster market with the Miata, hopefully Toyota will have the same level of success with the FT-86!

Hi everyone,

Just like most of you I'm expecting a lot from the FT-86.. Hopefully it'll find it's way to Europe as well.. this might be a very nice daily car for me.

I'm also a Nürburgring visitor, photographer and driver (usually twice a month as long as weather permits) so you can expect some sneaky spy shots from me as well

Hi all,

Glad to see this concept is finally off the ground and moving forward after the project was reported to have been cancelled and otherwise put on hold quite a few times. Hope to see good things from the production model.

As for me, I'm currently without a car. Last car I owned was a Corolla. Might have to bite the bullet and join the 240 crowd or something for the time being though. And try to avoid getting stung to hard by the mod bug along the way.

Sup guys, Names J.R. I'm from the Houston area, soon to be relocated to the Colorado springs area.. (yay army)

Currently drive a 2005 Mustang (booo v6..)

I've been looking for a new car for a while, and was almost sold on a genesis coupe, but I've always been an initial d fan, and when I heard toyota was working on a gen coupe competitor, I knew I had to wait.

Hey everyone, I'm going to be finishing up my training next July and will need a new car then and so it looks like the 86 will be it. I have to give my 328i back at the same time and i'm tired of BMWs (too big, too heavy, to much bad karma). Hopefully the 86 comes out by then, if not I plan on getting myself a corrolla beater for a few months until the 86 comes out

Howdy from an NB owner who agrees 100% with you. There is simply no substitute for lightweight and RWD. If Toyota can attain their target of 2650lbs (and if the shifter and steering are good), I'll buy the Ft-86. If it's above 2700lbs, I'm not interested.

It's a travesty that the Kabura (cheap, RWD, ~2500 pounds, nifty 3+1 seating) didn't make it to production. Hopefully the Kabura, 16X, and old RX-01 concept will be mixed together for a new, inexpensive, lightweight, 3+1 seat RX7 in a few years.
