Ask Me Anything! That is my car

Have had it for 3 days now..not done too much mileage as it has been raining in the bay area (finally!).

Just had to go get the brakes upgraded immediately..This thing goes, and goes quick! You can be doing double digit speeds before you get into 4th gear. Enough power to overwhelm the stock tires and traction control even in the dry on a perfectly grippy road. In the wet, it is a handful as of now..

Need better tires ASAP!

Thanks Shiv for taking on the entire project! Been waiting for a proper supercharger tune from you for ages! Had Shiv's stock tune in the car, and it made it so much more driveable and enjoyable, and with this full OFT300 kit, the BRZ is finally getting closer to the car it deserves to be. Very linear, NA-like response, and AWESOME eargasmic sound!

Is it possible to purchase just the SC kit if I don't have the oft, and don't intend to get it?

Do you have any info on how much power your header adds?

Thanks. I'm mainly curious about the business model. Does Shiv exclusively deal with open flash customers, or is he and the model open for business from other customers?

Also, I'd like to know if this header actually makes more power than the super charger kit alone. All of the sc & header combos I've seen posted haven't made anything worth while and if I recall correctly they all had a different style collector. I'd be delighted if the OFH was the stand out there.

He is openflash, so if you're paying him for something then you are an openflash customer... Are you asking if he has products that aren't listed on his website?

That second part I would like to know as well for both this and the phantom. It's hard to tell when its all bundled.

Not sure I understand the question. Are you asking if the OpenFlash headers produce more power than the Vortech Supercharger? The answer to that is no. No header alone will outperform a supercharger kit.

Keep in mind that I have yet to see a review done by one group that compares all headers from all manufacturers on the same car with the same dyno on the same day with the same tune (or tuned by the same tuner), which means there will be a pretty wide margin of error when comparing headers. However, from the results that are out right now the OpenFlash headers perform outstandingly well against the competition, particularly when you factor in the price.

It can't be reduced to a simple dollar:HP ratio but you get the idea. For the money the OF headers are hard to beat.

With the factory exhaust system, power peaked at 6500rpm when tuned comfortably. Above 6500rpm, power rolled off quickly. Adding the OFH and CBE allowed for more aggressive tuning which had power climbing until 7000rpm and holding it until 7500rpm. This was worth a peak hp gain of ~25whp with even bigger gains at 7500rpm. There were also power gains down low and in the midrange as well.

With the factory header in place, there seems to be a lot of heat and exhaust backpressure under boost at high rpm. This makes the engine more knock prone. Resolving that makes a pretty big difference to both power and knock resistance. And of course, sound quality. If I had to guess Id say the CBE contributes to 10whp of those gains. And 75% of the soundtrack.

And yes the pricing on our website includes the OFT Dollar discount (-$499). So it only applies to OFT customers (or those who purchase an OFT with the hardware). I believe Vortech sells their tuner kit (no tune) for $4298. I would absolutely recommend purchasing from them if you don't want an OFT and OFH. We are selling a system to ensure results. Those who want to run different headers or tuning options are better off purchasing a la carte from other vendors or Vortech themselves.

While we would love to have everyone as our customer, we are an engine management company first and foremost. Which is why the OFT is the cornerstone of our entire product line up. As long as we sell one to a customer, we can still afford to sell complementary hardware at heavily discounted prices. We like to treat our OFT customers well. It keeps them coming back for more
