Introducing myself
Hello everyone. My name is Shawn and I'm a new owner to a '14 FRS.
(not sure if the pic embedded, so also including the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/78858374@N03/12503935325/) I do have a couple of questions. I came from an 07 VW GTI. I'm used to DI and the motor ticking but it seems somewhat loud in this car. Is that normal? I skimmed through the owners manual and didn't find the 'break in' procedure. I've been going from what you guys have been saying around the forum, but do you know which page the information is on in the manual? (sorry for the stupid question here) Outside of that, i'm glad to be a part of the Twin community. |

Sup, first and foremost, the "twins" reference is well outplayed and I've always hated it.
This car is loud, and without knowing what you're hearing, it's hard to say but I'd bet it's normal. It's lightweight and insulation was scarcaly used to save weight/keep cost down. The break in period is listed in the manual. I'm going to persaude you to look again and actually read some of it, even though it's mostly all common sense. I bet you will run into something you did not know that is listed in there. I'm so-so to VW owners, but.... ..you chose the right color. Last edited by FRSupra; 02-13-2014 at 02:08 PM. |

Sorry for the twin reference. New to the community, been lurking for a while and see it floating all over the place. Quote:

Welcome to the club ;3
and here, use this site and click on the BRZ PDF manual part. You'll be downloading the owner's manual in PDF format. Open it and then press ctrl + F and then you can search "break in" and it'll come up! http://www.carsaddiction.com/article...owners-manual/ again welcome to the club

I see you have met a few of the folks. Break-in is like with many cars; keep the revs under 4,000 for 1,000 miles; vary the speed. Yep, the engine is relatively "noisy". Especially the HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump) on some of the cars. They say it sounds like "crickets". Enjoy your new machine ..... and don't hesitate to ask questions..... humfrz |
