max "potential" NA power.
So iv been searching around online for quite a while before joining the forum and from what iv gather the peak HP for a NA is around the 200 mark with bolt on's and a tune. I have seen some place's where people have even directly said the peak power is 200 ish with bolt on's and a tune. But i'm curious, once we have more part's on the market such as camshaft's, piston's, rod's, valve's, valve spring's, lifter's, throttle body's and so on. what do you think this engine is capable of. I understand there's no way of knowing anything until the parts are actually here, just curious about idea's on max power once there's more then just bolt on part's.
Also, i understand that the stock throttle body and camshaft are great to begin with but somewhere down the road better one's will be out there. |

I'm glad you started this thread. It's never been discussed. Not even recently. Like so recently that if you just scrolled down you'd see a thread.

2nd page of more than 100, there is a thread on NA dyno graphs, as well as a multi page thread discussing max NA hp for race applications.

In the end everything does come down to money, yep. But there is realistic number's and outlandish number. Easy bolt on's will get you to 200 HP. I highly doubt this engine will ever come ever close to 600 HP with just internal's. 300-350, possibly, MABY with highly built engine's. I'm just curious what's possible. I'm not trying to sound like i'm rich, i'm far from rich haha, but its not about how much money it will take to get high number's.

its going to be a case of how many revs the engine can stand
with standard guts you'd be foolish to push the rev limit much higher than it is currently (approx 7500rpm) and as it currently peaks at 6900 to 7000 rpm then this will limit peak power so to get 250ish brake you need to retune to about 8K with a rev limit of 8,500rpm based on current level of knowledge this will need valve springs at least, possibly a set of rod bolts then of course the new cams and shorter inlet tract to achieve the tune and I wouldn't worry about the throttle until 330Bhp |

Max piston speed at stock redline is 21.23 meters per second so there's room to rev to around 8500 at stock stroke. Raising the redline any higher and you're going to have to shorten the stroke and ultimately end up sacrificing torque for peak HP and have shit for drivability. (Note, I've made the assumption that the proper modifications have been done to keep bad things from happening) Last edited by Tgionet; 12-21-2013 at 06:18 AM. |

To answer your question. If our engine could breath well enough to produce 160lb-ft at 8500rpm, that would be 260hp. I don't see revving past 8500 as feasible and I don't see the motor producing more than 160lb-ft NA.
