Cruise control with Sport or VSC Sport mode
Like a lot of people I like to relax my accelerator leg and use cruise control everywhere.
I also like Sport mode. With auto transmission, is there a mod to allow CC to be used in Sport mode without constant inactivation? Why can't they get along together anyway? For that matter, why can't Sport VSC and CC get along? |

The reason they don't get along is that CC wants to travel in the most efficient manner (i.e. it tries to stay in the highest gear it can in order to maximize fuel economy) and Sport mode, well, doesn't. Thus they're at odds with each other in regards to shift logic.
I'm not sure what the rationale behind the whole VSC/CC thing is, but my guess is that they assume you're doing smooth highway driving when you've got CC on and not engaging in random drifts.

The car does not need to be in "Sport" mode in cruise control. Sport changes shift points and speed, something that should not matter in cruise.
You want CC you turn it on. You want Sport you turn that on, you do not need both on at the same time. For the small amount of effort it takes to switch back and forth occasionally, I don't think it would be worth hacking up wires in your console. If it just makes you tingle to see the extra lights on your dash, in that case I have no good answer. |

Having the transmission in sport mode changes the throttle-by-wire input processing (without sport mode the inputs get smoothed out for fuel economy). Cruise control takes over the throttle, and wants it smooth, so sport mode is disabled.
If using manual mode and switching back and forth from cruise control, remember that you need to be in "D" to properly select sport mode. Leaving it in "M" and pushing the Sport button won't do anything but turn on the "Sport" light on your gauge cluster. You need to pop the shifter over to "D", hit the sport button, and then back to "M". It can be mildly annoying, but it only takes about 3 seconds. Chances are, if this is ruining your drive, it is probably a poor scenario to use cruise control in the first place. |

Its the sledgehammer approach to risk management based on the premise that in normal mode if the car loses traction it will reset the CC, therefore if you have VSC off the CC will assume you have lost traction.....easy but dumb

I have adopted the habit of shifting to "D", then select Sport mode (along with VSC Sport), and then shift to "M". |
