There's also a little box held in by a bent over metal leg you can see from the trunk. If you grab that leg with pliers and bend it more to make it grip better, that may help. Go through the other rear deck clicking threads if you want a better explanation and pictures. A lot of those threads go through multiple fixes.

Edit: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=459
That should help

So what exactly is this crack/pop? I occasionally hear a like squeak/pop when I accelerate or go over a bump, and I thought it was my suspension.. ?

Basically that. The rear deck (trunk area) will squeak/crackle on bumps & various other load changes that cause flexion.

Find all of the welded seems in the trunk area and spray a lubricant between the various panels. Then use a piece of plastic (or a screw driver if you dare), and GENTLY apply some force between the panels until they creak and stop. Don't put more than a few pounds of force at the end, the goal here is not to yield material.

I've taken everything apart three times. I even took the spare tire out and did the bottom of the trunk, side walls, everything I could ever take apart and there is still a lot of noise. I'm getting obsessive... snap crackle and pop are irritating me even over my loud-ass greddy EVO3...

I think I'm doomed.

Did you check the center break light? That really did matter when I added a small sub to the trunk. Wish I had taken a picture. It wasn't hitting the glass but the main body just snaps onto the bottom mount. Not very secure.

2 : "Crack" each spot weld carefully with a flat screw driver on each side, he probably miss some pictures but take your time and don't forget any spots if you don't want to remove the rear deck twice. You just need to push the screw driver into the crack and twist it carefully and slowly, you are supposed to heard a little cracking and you need to twist until the cracking sound stop.

***Important : When I say "CRACK", it's not crack enough like to break spot weld, but to only crack, you just need to squeeze and turn the screw driver a little bit and slowly.
Now, i never heard any cracking noise from the rear deck anymore.....finally!!!

Enjoy

Mike
Wow I am so happy I found this post!!!!!!

I have an early 2013 BRZ which was affected by the TSB so I originally took my car into the dealership about 1.5-2 years ago, and they did the fix to the lower portion of deck as described in the TSB. At the time I was only having a few loud pop noises. When they did the TSB, the noises I had were fixed and life was great.

But about 3 months later, I started to get more noises, and then more, and then it got to the point that I could not drive without having my backseats closed and music on because the car sounded like a popcorn machine. It was absolutely driving me crazy and I was starting to really dislike the car.

I took the plunge, took out the rear deck with much cursing - followed your guide and "cracked" every single one of the spot welds on the rear deck panel, as well as the ones going to the strut mount and then drenched them in WD40 Specialist Lithium Grease. At first I was nervous about the cracking, but as soon as you do one you understand what that means - it was very easy. Anyways I've driven for two days since doing the fix now and I havent heard a single creak, pop or rattle. The car smells a little funny, but I still have to clean it up a little and let it air out a bit more. I am so thankful for this guide, you're the best!!

Doubtful, 3 and a half year old post. Just drive it, it'll go away eventually. I think mine took 6 months or so to finally quit popping. Hasn't done it in 5 years now.
