Stalling, Misfiring, poor idle.. Car is at Toyota, hopefully some results soon

[WTF]

So the car just went in for the first service.

1500kms on the clock.

Ever since I picked the car up it has misfired randomly at lights, after 500kms it started being more serious and nearly stalling at lights. It has happened 4 times in 1500kms.

It is now in at Toyota, getting the first service and trying to diagnose the issues.

1) misfiring/shaking/stalling at lights
2) touch sensitive locking sometimes not working (have to use key fob)
3) bluetooth connectivity sometimes being very quiet (have to restart car to make it connect properly, sometimes 3-4 times)

I forgot to mention the crickets sound, but that only happened when I ran ethanol 10% 100 octane fuel. When I went back to normal fuel it was fixed.

Hopefully they will give me some answers on the misfiring/shaking :S Will update if I have any news.

Well..

so far that was next to no use :S

They were unable to replicate the misfiring, as such, they did diagnostics on it, and well, nothing revealed.

Says everything is fine.

My check engine light has never come on, so I honestly don't know what to suggest :|

So the mystery remains.. I dont know how to prove to them something is wrong.

Another note.. do any Toyota dealers wash your cars when you go in for servicing? Even on a basic check when I take my M5 in, BMW dealership gives it a clean. Maybe thats the difference with brands :P

One last side note, at the first service, I was expecting them to change oil. Isn't that a common practise on a brand new car, in case there is any metal particles etc? All they did is check levels etc.

I think that is dealer by dealer. My mitsubishi dealer does it for me, only if I ask them to though. Personally I would never let them do it because they are not professionals by any means. You will regret letting a kid wash your new car with a dirty rag.

I agree, if you care about your paint and finish, regular automatic car washes are terrible for the exterior for your car in the long run.

As far as your issue? Some idiot at the dealership probably left something unplugged, which they fixed immediately and then couldn't "replicate the problem." Good luck with your car, hopefully this problem doesn't come up again.

At least you have the same outcome as I with the crickets !!! There is a guy on the thread for that saying that we are all full of it.

Im still disappointed the dealer couldnt replicate the issue.. And considering I am going to be heavily modifying the car later, I am really wanting to get the issue attended to BEFORE I start voiding the warranty.

Im wondering if you run ethanol blended fuels long enough if it will actually end up damaging the pump, and leave the cricket sound permanently?

I'm not sure with your location but is 100 octane normal? If you guys are getting Japanese spec engines then it makes sense to run 100 octane. I've just heard that running too high of octane can actually be bad for any car.

100 octane in Australia is only 100RON, its not the same as what you would classify as 100.

Our most common fuel is 91 (regular), 95 (premium) and 98 (bp ultimate/shell vpower) octane at the pump.

i think that equates to around 92-94 octane for you guys. Im not 100% sure of the exact conversion.

Dealership didn't seem to be aware of any such common issue.

I mentioned people on this forum had similar trouble and they stated they were not aware.

In Southern California, we get the lovely 87, 89 and 91. That's it. I have been wondering about this crazy ass hi compression 12.5:1 was what we were doing on Honda LS/VTEC swaps back in the days and that was sick. Would had to mix some race gas with that shitty 91 to avoid blowing. But I guess this D4S is really that good with the new-age ecus, it would be possible to run such high compression on our crappy gas here. But then hearing all these problems with the FRS, makes me wonder a lot of whats going on.
