I used an actual sewing needle for de-pinning. I just pushed it as far into the hole as I could and pulled (with a decent amount of force) on the wire in question and it slowly comes out. Don’t recall how far it goes in...maybe 1/4 or 1/3rd of an inch? No clicking sound or anything.

DIY: Track Mode on 2013-2016 cars

Try pushing a sewing needle in the release hole as far as it’ll reasonably go. Then pull on the wire on the backside. It’s tricky, but you shouldn’t need much force.
Image shows where the release is for a given pin.

Thank you so much for this picture. Although I see holes 27-38 have push tabs instead of holes to put something into. I assume I pry on this somehow?

Yea the tab is the same for all those pins, you should be able to press them down by poking a needle in there.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!

Can you take some pics of the pin itself?
I’ll be updating the DIY with more clear repin instructions.

I’m so glad you got it. The repin is pretty stressful if the pins are fighting you. I can go to bed now, I’ve been refreshing the thread in bed for an hour lol!

Yeah dude you rock. I am so appreciative of last night's help.

It was amazing how easily the wires slid out once I had successfully pried on the correct tab. Probably half a pound of pressure to pull it out once it is free.

Scarily I went to test out the features this morning and my VSC button didn't work lol. I knew this was because of possible "accidental modification" I had made to the connectors with my pick tool. I instantly saw I made pin 27's female rectangle connector into a square, and the male connector inside the module just couldn't make contact.

I just finished "rectangle-ing" the female connector and everything works perfectly now.

Confirmed this works on a 2016 RS2.0 without repinning. Plug and play. I now have hill start assist and the 3 second hold to activate track mode.

Thanks for the great writeup!

Excellent!
Those are fantastic pictures of the connector pinning, do you mind if I use them in the DIY?
