DIY: Track Mode on 2013-2016 cars

Track mode (sport button) should take a long press to activate now, instead of instant press.

Wooo Hooo! Another successful swap. A couple notes:

Got a 2017 Unit for $99. On the aluminum the part revision was 030.. and a date code of Feb 2017.

The control unit has two date codes, one was Dec 2016 and the second was Jan 2017.

My car is a 2013 MT, from opening the hood to repin done was 30 min. Total time about 45 minutes.

NO ABS warning light when I started up. Works great!

One final question... Now that I have "mode 4" with trc off, vdc off, and brake-lsd off, is there any reason to do the pedal dance?

Or put another way, is the new mode 4 the same as the pedal dance used to be?

Pedal dance turns EBD off too IIRC, so you can rotate while trail braking. Not sure if this car has much of a tendency to rotate under braking though.

Just wanted to share my experience with the swap.

Successfully swapped a 2017 MT ABS unit (27536CA030) into a 2013 MT. I have a scan tool that I plugged into the car before firing it up and the ABS module had a ton of fault codes. I cleared them using the scan tool and all was well. Took a short test drive around the block to confirm the swap was a success. IIRC, the repin for was for the VSC sport button and a wheel sensor and confirmed that both looked good during the test drive.

One issue that I had that others hadn't mentioned was that if you don't slide the pin lock back correctly, you will not be able to plug the harness back into the module. After some messing around, I figured out that I wasn't able to slide the pin lock because the pins weren't pressed in far enough. So, if you are having issues there, please don't try to force anything.

Does anyone know if the 2020 model ABS units (27536CA070) will also work?

Probably, no way to know for sure until someone tries it though.

I picked up a 2020 070 off eBay, wish me luck? It was $140 including shipping.

Mine is the first batch of 2015 model, Blue series, build date is around 2014 April.

Hopefully I don’t need to repin the connector? How would I know if I need to repin or not…?

Nice, good luck!

If you get a code for the FL wheel speed sensor, and the VSC sport button doesn’t do anything, then you need to repin. Being a 2015 if should be plug and play though. Let us know how it goes, if it goes well I’ll add the 070 to the list as compatible.

Best terms are BRZ ABS pump and 86 ABS pump.

417motoring usually has a decent selection: https://ebay.com/usr/417motoring

Update: I now have 4 HPDE days since performing this upgrade. I love the new track mode - the pedal dance may be better for some, but I find track mode just about perfect for me.

The first time you either forget to do the pedal dance before starting, or go off track and stall out you will kick yourself for not doing this sooner! It was so awesome when I realized during the warmup lap that VSC was still engaged and I could just reach down and enter track mode while in motion!

So i Did it last night, no light what so ever. Just like that & boom ABS doesn't make u feel like hitting something on the road anymore.

100% Plug & Play even with 2021 070 unit, 20 min job cause I dropped the 4mm socket.
