Switching to 4x100

So I'm going through the motions of figuring out how to get the lightest possible wheels I can. I know, I'm weird like that. I know both the miata and my yaris use 4x100, and the earlier miatas use the identical setup as the yaris. What pieces would need to be changed for me to run 4x100 wheels? Is it really worth it price wise? And for the fun bit, is there any way to run the Volk ce28n I have on my yaris that are 14x5.5? I know the size sucks, but they only weigh 6.5 lbs each. And tires weight under 15 lbs each.

You can find crazy light 15" wheels in 5x100 that will clear the stock brakes. Probably a lot easier to work with than trying to find 4x hubs or adapters. Probably some 14" as well, but the brakes will be an issue. I was always wishing I could afford a good setup back when I raced a Neon ACR, which is the same bolt pattern.

Remember too, diameter changes can do weird things (especially if they're not the same F/R)

I assume you're drag racing or hyper-miling? Otherwise the added sidewall will be more of a problem than the weight loss.

16x7 Enkei RPF1s are 13.7 lbs. That's pretty light and you don't have to worry about fitment or swapping hubs.

14 inch wheels are not going to happen with the OEM brakes.

Many 15" wheels won't fit either. If you move to OEM FHI 4 pots up front you'll be able to clear a lot more 15" wheels, and have a nice selection of pads available. They bolt right up. iirc rears 2 pots need an adapter bracket.

It could if you run hub adapters that are about 5" thick so the wheels stick out past the brakes!

Perfect from 'improving' your track width right? Who needs geometry correction.

One will need to install power steering from truck though. By then .. why not swap engine and tranny as well? Imagine all that torque!

The only way to do that would be re-drilling the existing hubs and brake rotors on the car.

Swapping to the 4-pot fronts does save a bit of weight and gives you more 15" wheel options, although they are mostly rally wheels, so fairly narrow and not super light.

Conversely, you could also go to the impreza non-turbo brakes which are 276mm instead of 294. Same caliper and pad, just a shorter bracket.

Or just use 16" wheels.

This seems like a hell of a lot of work to fit tiny wheels that will probably look horrible and perform just as horribly

Neither are 15. However I figured changing the hubs to miata hubs will fix that. I figured I would have to have the brakes as well. I don't know if that is worth it or if I would need other parts.

13.7 is decent, and the tsw are 10. But the Ce28n are 6.5. That would be awesome if I could make them fit for a reasonable amount of money. That is the real question, what parts would I need to change, and would it be worth it money wise.

Don't care how they look. Lightweight is always preferred for everything, and frankly the tires perform way better than I ever thought they would on my Yaris. I'm one of those weird people that thinks the stock tires have too much grip, I like sliding around on the street, it is a heck of a lot more fun.

I wonder how much steering sharpness feel can be attributed to sidewall hight, and how much to tire type. Would be interesting, how some performance tires mounted on 16x7 would feel, i'm not sure it's right to compare in feel summer performance 17" tires with winter 16" ones for apples to apples comparison.
