2017 Track mode on older model
Hi Guys,
Tried looking for this online but no luck. Can we get the 2017 traction control setting on to older models? R Bob |

Isn't the track button in the 2017 a fancier way to say VSC Sport?

The calibration is supposedly different; the new Track Mode allows more slip angle before the nannies intervene. Hopefully it's something as easy as changing some settings in Techstream.

More likely is a different TCS module.

your best option for a different tranction control system on older car wotld be to talk to moto east or deliceois tuning both have developed an alternate traction control strategy usinf ecutek racerom custom maps
trying to intergrate the 2017 traction vsc module into the older cars is unlikely to work easily. see here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86034 |

Pedal dance will be same on both year models, as on both it will switch nannies off with only basic ABS left. It's VSC vs Track mode, where differences will be, so why bring up pedal dance?
Icecreamtruk: one cannot guarantee skills all of car drivers will have. If you don't like and are skillful enough without, switch it off. Or buy some gadget to switch it off permanently on startup. Meanwhile i'll keep using VSC when driving on public roads and will give me some assurance if i'll know that most of others on road will too. |

When I pushed the "S" button on my old Mini Cooper, it sharpened throttle response and added weight to the steering, both of which were lovely. I pretty much only drove with that mode on. Now my question is, does our car do anything else apart from relaxing the traction control a bit? Cause I do find the throttle response a little sluggish and find myself wishing there was an "S" button.

You can have button to switch it off. It's even in post above yours. If your question is why Toyota/Subaru didn't implemented as button in stock car .. answer lies in country below yours . Big vendors don't need yet another class action suit for "making it too easy" from crashed & died hoons to fullfil wishes of small part of anti-nannies purists. As for myself .. it was hard to get PD right during first PD usage times on track to engage it .. but rather soon i learned sequence by heart & can quickly perform it if/when needed in track day, hence i won't shell any $$$ for buying that "button". There are many enough cars where there is no PD, nor even with TC off (which results in some funny stories from friends/colleges about eg. starting uphill on ice/snowed road). I'm happy with what we have. I'd wish for VSC to be tunable, but that's just wish, not must-have, as potential of it is Very Big (for example, with tunable one could learn control by gradually upping limits, letting it correct only very biggest mistakes that would result in spinout/crash anyway, one could actually drive faster, due electronics in potential being able to react much sooner then human (not that good for learning though), one could change the way it engages (eg. on new miata i found it way less unpleasant even if left on)).
