HOW TO RESET TPS LIGHT

Had to change one of the TPS on my daughters BRZ yesterday. to turn the light off(reset) i know the PCM's TPS system needs recalibrated via OBDll scanner tool. is that the only way? i told her to disconnect the + cable off the battery then after 20 min. reconnect. On another vehicle i had to reset the CEL was to turn the key to "ON" 4 times. Is there any trick like that for the BRZ or is the scan tool the only way? got the TPS at Autozone, Schrader #29079.... thanks

The system needs to be manually updated to recognize the identifier (serial number?) of the new sensor. Any tire shop should be able to read, and add it.

I had 4 refurbished OEM TPMS units installed in my aftermarket wheels and the tire shop used their magical scan tool on them to make it work.

As far as I know, there's no way to pair them up other than using a tool like that to pair them to the car. Total cost was $30 and the dealer or any tire shop should be able to do it in like 15 minutes.

Ok, thanks guys, just wanted to see if there was some other "trick" to reset it rather than taking it in to the shop. I personally dont care for some "safety" features cars have now days cause of the cost it takes to keep them going....like the TPS. but anyways.. thanks again and thanks Ultramaroon for your service manual links! Next job is the plugs, watched some videos on how it can be done w/o dropping the exhaust ,per service manual, etc. ... looks like that #4 is the trickiest, my daughter can get that one... she has small hands.. lol

For what it's worth, I don't really care for them either, however this weekend that changed a little.

Drove 3 hours to an autocross site and stayed at a buddy's house. Came out and the tires seemed low, but it was parked on a curb, so I figured it just looked low. Started car, TPMS light was on, checked it, and poof, one was at ~20PSI when it should have been around 35.

Alternatively, if that screw that was in there happened on the highway up there and was a larger leak, the TPMS should have alerted me while driving those 3 hours. So there is some value in having it.

Also, I prefer just having the TPMS light off. Without TPMS installed or working, it's just on all the time and annoying.

just by coincidence, my oldest daughter in N.C. said hers was on also she said her tires were with in spec psi according to the manual... i think it was 32 front and 30 rear, i told here to air them up to 38 then drop it to 36>34>32, do each one and see if it goes out(process of elimination)... it didnt. told her to go to costco where she had them installed last year. they said oh, just push the reset button!!... so she has an oil reset and a tire light reset... wow,, didnt know that ... she has a 2018 Honda CRv. oh my wifes car is on too... 2009 mazda 3.... this is why i hate those d@m things

My registered sensors are on my winter wheels in the garage. They're all properly inflated so my warning light only flashes after I've traveled more than 25 miles.

Stupid system is annoying. I can feel it well before they would trigger, but that's just me.

The TPMS light on my 2013 FRS has become always ON. All the tire pressures are at 35 psi.

How can I make the TPMS light go OFF?

We all know you don't work on your own cars.
