Holy cow - much simpler to just be able to drop a complete FA24 in with some wiring adapters! Downside, I guess, is you inherit the FA24's oil pressure drop issues, but damn...

In the FA24s, is the oil pressure drop really that big of a deal?

From what little bit that I have heard about the GR cup cars, they don't seemed overly concerned about it..

There has been a fair amount of independent reporting about the issue. Seems pretty real. 900brz on YouTube is probably the best source.

There is hopefully a fix coming soon from verus

I think an Accusump does mitigate the problem to some degree but nobody seems to have blown up their engine because of temporary drops in pressure. Granted, any drop in pressure is not ideal, but is it really an engine killer?

Well 900brz already blew up his engine once so you can reach out to him on YouTube and ask if he knows for sure it was due to the pressure drop. He seems good about replying.

Btrgarge is also testing and did the accusump but I don’t think it helped much. I’m sure the damage from the pressure drops are very track dependent IE ones with long sweepers.

The problem definitely exists as for how much damage it’s causing who knows. It’s oil temps/pressure all over again lol

The FA24's seem to be getting cheaper all the time.

ASM is offering a Hybrid FA20 Heads with FA24 short block for pretty cheap when I asked price. For me Transport costs are a major hurdle.

Are you talking shipping just an engine, or the whole car?

For RSM to ship my engine was around $550 (MN to Va). Liftgate service (Estes). The guy parked the truck in the street and wheeled the engine into my garage.

The FA20/24 hybrid seems like a lot of extra work since doing the 24 swap is basically a bolt in and plug n play deal.

I hope people aren't put off because of my code problem. My issue is a one off deal. RSM has done a bunch of these kit/swaps with out issue. And, it may be my ecu and not have anything to do with the kit. RSM has been in touch with me on almost a weekly basis helping me solve the problem.

Shipping the whole car. Used Long blocks are still kinda pricey. Also I believe FA20 Heads have higher compression vs FA24. but after selling the complete FA20 it might still be worth it to drop in a complete swap.

FA24 heads can breathe in 20% more displacement without choking at the same 7000rpm power-peak, and pull to the same 7400rpm rev-limiter as the FA20, I'd be very surprised the FA20 heads will give any performance benefits. Would bet the opposite. Even if there's a bump in compression ratio.

Someone I talk with online put together a hybrid and it made a smidge more midrange between 5000-5800 but after that it lost 20whp over a complete FA24 on the same dyno by 6800.

Blue FA20 with boltons
Red Hybrid FA20 head, FA24 block
Green FA24
