JDM STI damper kit (with questions)
I am replacing the original suspension on my '13 BRZ and ordered this kit from Japanparts. There wasn't a lot of info, so I wanted to share.
Question: No top nuts for the strut shafts were provided. Do I reuse the stock nuts? For the rear, do I reuse the bump stops and boots? Kit: STI DAMPER KIT (ST20310AS040 + ST20310AS050 + ST20365AS020x2 + ST20330AS010x2 + ST20380AS020x2) (Japanparts No : 484-050-001) Strut F RH: ST20310AS040 x 1 Strut F LH: ST20310AS050 x 1 Shock Absorber R: ST20365AS020 x 2 Coil Spring F: ST20330AS010 x 2 Coil Spring R: ST20380AS020 x 2 Delivery took less than two weeks from Japanparts. Here's what I received: Front Struts Front Springs Rear Struts Rear Springs Last edited by tobin; 05-27-2024 at 09:59 AM. |

Yes, you can reuse the top hats and stock nuts from the stock suspension. You're just switching out both the struts and springs. Make sure to use a spring compression tool to compress those springs during removal. You can get new top hats and if you don't want to break your wallet, I suggest Pedders Front Top Hats since there isn't much aftermarket for the rears. Otherwise, keep the OEM parts. https://www.ftspeed.com/products/580...nt-strut-mount |

If the front strut is inverted like Bilstein B6s the hump stop is Likely internal. No need to do anything on the front.
Rears you would reuse OEM assuming the springs are stock height. |
