We sure learned about insurance limits. We don't keep much of anything in the house these days.

Another thing we learned. In the US at least, when you have a burglary, your house gets points, just like an individual with dmv points after a charged accident or tickets. All the insurance companies are in on it. No matter who owns the house, or what insurance company, the insurance will be more for 5 years.

Another thing we learned is never lock a box that doesn't have gold or diamonds in it. I had a big box with pictures and documents. It was locked. They just take the box. They assume anything locked is full of money. I bet they were very disappointed when they got it open. If it was unlocked, they would have opened it, left it, and moved on.

Limits. Unless you declare it on your policy, and pay more, you will only get 6k for your 20k Rolex.

Yeah, jewelry limits are a thing, among other categories. I definitely need to read the fine print. Unfortunately none of the companies put those details upfront, and I doubt most people would read them anyway.

Hmmm, random lock box with a GPS unit and paint grenade inside...

The Admin posted a photo of WWII P.O.W.s swimming in Lake Ontario at West Beach. It’s all to do with cottages being torn down and related to Camp #30 where the P.O.W.s were from. (Look up Camp #30 it’s very interesting.) Anyway, I disagreed somewhat with comments he made about Camp #30. Specifically that ”… during the time the facility was a POW camp no escapes were attempted.” Well he meant when the P.O.W.s were out of the camp on Ehrenwort (honour). I took it as from the camp compound itself of which there were many. I even mentioned several.
His reply was: I understand that you have a different opinion, but I respectfully disagree with your comment.
Then he respectfully boots my ass off the page while I’m composing a reply with this little notice.

I had something nice happen.

I ordered about $250 in otoro sashimi grade bluefin tuna from an on line place. This place gets great reviews, and is more known for its wagyu and other high end beef products.

Well, the tuna just sucked. It was not edible. So I sent an email back to them that my order was a major disappointment. They replied in seconds. I ended up speaking with the owner. He said I wasn't the first to complain about the toro, and offered a full refund. Instead I told him to send me some other product.

Well, I got an email with my new order. He is sending me about $350 worth of Australian wagyu cuts. One steak has a 9+ marble rating. Can't wait to get the order.

Just to follow up, wound up getting both car and homeowners insurance from State Farm. Going to save me about $1100 this year vs sticking with GEICO/Travellers which was the next cheapest option I had. Unless I have a claim, knock on wood.

Better than me. Recent speeding ticket raised our auto insurance up near $400 (every 6 months!)... Gonna have that record for 5 years.
