I just read a post on a French forum regarding recent Audis. Want GPS? That'll be 750 a year. Radar cruise control? Another 4-500. Auto high-beams? Another 50.
You may be able to option those the "usual way" at purchase. Not sure though. |

Most of these are not available at time of purchase for a one-time fee, although may be included for a short trial period. GM does this with OnStar, car hotspot and with SuperCruise.

It isn't the heaviest truck on the road. Its acceleration ability doesn't change anything about the force transfer. The speed is all that matters. It doesn't matter if it is accelerating to 70mph from 0mph faster than other vehicles, if it hits something at 70mph then it will be no different than any other large truck hitting something at highway speeds.
If I had a choice between a Cybertruck accelerating to highway speeds on an on-ramp or a similarly accelerating Carrera GT or a hooptie turbo'ed Civic, I would pick the Cybertruck knowing that it has the best chance of maintaining traction. I am more likely to see a $100k C8 losing control and crashing their car while trying to accelerate fast than a Cybertruck, so I don't get the point. Its ability to stop will be no different than any truck its size at a given speed. The second the accelerator pedal is brought up, the acceleration drops to zero, the regen slows the truck, which is better than non-EVs, the brake pedal is applied, and so on. For perspective, a Nissan Titan XD or Ram 2500 turbo diesel weigh 6,800lbs too, as do many trucks, as do the Ford Lightening and Rivian R1T, but why are we freaking out about Cybertruck like it is going to maul everyone on the road?

But, you are right, the CT does have many peers in the mass category. Not all trucks are that high a mass though. I suspect it's in the top 10% in mass.

Don't be so biased. If this was a new Porsche or Lamborghini then would you be hating? Would you have said the same about a Countach truck back in the day like Jason said on Hagerty? Probably.

2:00 Munro asks about the "$25k Tesla":
--"We are quite far advanced in that work." --"The revolution in manufacturing that will be represented by that car will blow people's minds." --"It's a level of production technology that is far in advance of any automotive plant on earth."

If it's any consolation, where I currently live, the drivers are clueless NPCs who will run you over because they don't know they are supposed to stop at a stop sign. Regardless of whether they are on a phone or not. They are that stupid.

That is what I was thinking too. The question is how much?
Like right now I think there is a front and rear casting that get assembled separately, and then the shell comes onto those castings, and then the seats mounted directly to the battery and raise up to form the center, and then the doors, glass, hood, fenders, bumpers, etc are attached, so the question is, how far can they take the car? Could they do everything in the front and back in two castings including front and rear fenders and body, and then secure those together with the floor/battery? I feel like three pieces is more likely than two or one just because it would be easier to work on the interior pieces of the front and rear separately like they are doing now, but I could imagine losing the shell. If they do then they may need to sand/finish the surface, or they could leave it raw for a textured surface. Maybe a textured surface will be a thing in the future where the car surface is patterned to look like leather, wood, metal, carbon fiber, or some design.
