Tsuchiya uses a high end version of ST coils on his GT86. ST is a KW brand. They are... similar to the RCE SS-1's

Wish he would have talked more about the suspension instead of his love for 255 tires

The ones he use are most likely the higher version based on ST XTA Plus 3 which is similar in design to KW Clubsport.
RCE SS1 are more similar (at least construction wise) to regular ST XTA (which ST offers in green DK version too). Both seem interesting to me because it's hard to find their direct KW counterpart.

3 ways Kw are different, compression side is monotube with piggy back canisters while rebound one is twintube, ST 3 way damper doesn’t have canisters and it’s twin tube.

I had mine installed a week after I got my 22 BRZ. Car is less floaty over big bumps and rides now comfortable using their recommended setting. Also tries it on track and it is very capable when paired with Kumho V730 tires! Everyone who drove it commented on how controlled and planted it is. Their customer service is top notch, answered all the questions I had within a day. Highly recommended.

What's the difference between SS1 and ST XTA?

It is a big $ difference between the two shipped to Canada. Just debating if it is worth it to go for the SS1 over the XTA.

Thanks!

We think our spring rates are just better suited to this platform. With the rear motion ratio being lower, the 5 kg/mm rear spring rate is kinda soft when you look at them in terms of wheel rate.

And arguably the biggest plus with our SS1s is the ability to call us at almost any time or PM for support with install, advice on adjustments at the track, and anything else that might come up! We know these cars and these coilovers super well so when you talk to us you're talking to someone that has had these exact coilovers on the same car.

Just wondering are the RCE SS1 and RCE SS2 same for both 1st gen and 2nd gen? I am thinking to get one to replace my existing coilovers on my 1st gen and then remove my old coilover for rebuild on my 2nd gen.

Thanks!

In other words, the 2022+ must be for 2nd gen only? Thanks!

They're the same for 1st and 2nd gen...they have different pages on the website so we can keep track of things and see what our customers are driving.

Here's a little write up I did on 1st and 2nd gen suspension/chassis differences. We have both as shop cars and developed SS2s + SSRs on both cars, plus retested SS1s on 2nd gens.

How much stiffer than stock is the ride? I'm leaning towards getting a set of these but don't want to have a very stiff ride on the street.

I'd say the ride comfort is comparable to stock Performance Pack suspension at the recommended street settings, but is much more composed handling-wise and the damping quality over bumps and imperfections in the road just *feels* better - not necessarily more or less stiff, it's more of a qualitative difference.

They're also definitely superior in both ride comfort and handling vs. my previous set up of H&R Sport springs on stock PP shocks, which was too harsh on bigger bumps.

Definitely worth the investment.

They are about 2x the spring rate of the stock springs. In my case I can for sure feel the higher rates - the car follows up/down motions in the road more closely. Impacts are not worse - probably actually better than the stock springs/shocks. It's stiffer for sure, but not really harsher - and the trade is the handling is better.
