Alright, thank you all.
Got the header and exhaust in tonight. Might try to get the suspension knocked out tomorrow night. Then it's the diff. Need to order a tune, probably just do CSG remote since I have an Ace. This was an expensive evening as I bolted my parts in rather than listing them for sale. I'll send you all the bill lolol. |

My biggest gripe about the SSC kit is the suspension choice. I get it they have to choose something and a spring/strut combination was needed. Also special Konis and Eibach springs seems like a rational choice. But it rides like crap day to day or to events. Always on the bumpstops, like the Eibach springs are too low.
These cars are already borderline on the bumpstops from the factory (although by appearance / wheel gap it looks fine). The proper way to lower any car for performance purposes is by shortening the strut/shock body, not by reducing travel. ... and then don't get me started on how much I hated my RT660's. Again, with a spec class and everyone on the same tire, I get it. But I still hate them. And also don't get me started on why the first gen is still in DS with the 2nd gen. The PAX is harder in DS than SSC. STX is the way.

What is everyone's thoughts on the RE71r-s? Do they heat cycle out as fast as the old version?
I am about due for tires, and see they have some good specials on tire rack right now. I liked the AO52, and the rt660 have been "ok", and only have them due to availability last time I bought tires. |

Got my third set mounted this week for nats. Feel more like the 660 then the yoko or old stones, like the old stone but more forgiving imho, I’m a fan. |

Of course that's not to say they won't fall off a bit in the later stages of their life, but they perform much more like A052's and you're at least going to be up there at locals for example. RT660's fall heavily off and my two sets of old RE-71R's kinda did the same, just not as heavily as the 660's. If you're really going for nationally competitive times, it still seems the Yoks are the way to go when you have an ST setup with loads of camber. Most street guys are running the 71Rs now with limited camber. Really comes down to availability, price, and what you're looking to get out of them. If you're more locally competitive, you need tires, and they're on sale, they'll get the job done. Looks like they're $831 shipped without a TR card in 245/40/17. Yoks in the same size are $1k even.

For auto-x the RE-71r was for sure down on pace/grip after the first half, have a couple of others who have the same impressions locally. Surface for sure could be an impacting thing, as is length of runs. We have smaller lots and very few are good/grippy. When I could get them hot on the road course, no issues. |

I may need to try and get a TR card vs Discount Tire card, or call discount tire and see if they will honor the same sales now. DTD used to sell me re71r on the phone when not on their website. |

@cmiovino disagree that the yokes are substantially faster in ST prep, fastest day 2 stx time was on stones last year. We’ll see more stones this year, guarantee it.

My buddy seems to have heat cycled his re71rs out well before the tread runs out after only 50ish runs on the front of his (new 6mt) supra (ugh it's so rad). Some of that was hotlapping at a practice weekend with local club, but his experience has been backed up by a couple other folks in the region. |

Interesting, maybe surface dependent on what they stop working on? We've seen a lot of folks running the 71RS locally and not cycling out that far before they die.
They definitely seem to die earlier than Yoks, but not as bad as 71R or RT660s (they both cycle out by mid-tread)

No concrete here, all asphalt. Our main local site is very smooth and easy on tires from a treadwear standpoint. Another smaller lot is more aggressive and has off-camber turns. We saw the same results with 660's and the old 71R's. Mid-tread they were done from a heat cycle stand point. So I can't really say it's surface dependent... unless the 71RS really is effected by different surfaces differently for heat cycling or something, but I've never seen that before. I ended up going with Yoks on my DS car because there was more data and I had success with them in 2021. I need a tire that can be relatively competitive for 150-160 runs. Having them fall off mid-season is frustrating.

Anyone had success with the Kuhmo V730, or are they probably better for lapping vs autox.

I run them on track -- they take a couple of laps to warm up/grip up, so maybe on a hot day they can work but not going to be pointy end fast.

Right now for the tippy top of the 200TWs it's the Yoks or Stones. I'd put the Falkens third and Kuhmos right around there, if not a smidge lower from the limited data I've seen.
