I believe 2 of the dealerships here are owned by the same guy. Yours came from one of them (Country Hills Toyota), this 10th anniversary car looks to be allocated to the other one (South Pointe Toyota). The two dealerships are located nearly at opposite sides of the city.

Ive seen the same car advertised at both sites on autotrader before so i believe they swap cars between them every now and then.

A silver overpriced 2020 86 AT is still there at country hills lol (2+ years there i think lol)....
I wonder if they just never bothered to adjust the price due to the insane car market pricing....

Dealers do not invest your deposit, its accounted for in an escrow type account separately from other transactions, similar to a damage deposit on a rental property. I highly doubt a TOYOTA dealer would go bankrupt in this market... We have no new inventory, which frees up millions of dollars for a dealership. Its actually good, on paper

Here, the last member who reported having their "factory order" (allocation request) filled had ordered the car Dec of 2021, that was just last month. There are situations where a dealer might receive an allocation ahead of other dealers with older orders, because of yearly plan numbers and balancing allocations in a fair number, but it wont happen very frequently. I have been sharing these allocations as they become available, a few members have had success calling immediately and were able to purchase the car.

Realistically if you're third in line for a Premium MT, I would expect a 2024 model in late 2023, or spring of 2024. Not to be discouraging, but you are very late to the game. If you are 3rd at one of the highest volume dealers you would possibly have a better chance, however I believe most of those dealers have a waiting list thats much longer than 3. I'm curious to know where you have ordered from, if you are comfortable PMing or sharing it here

I was told verbally about my place on the 'list' so that's all I have to go off of. My deposit is placed with Kelowna Toyota. They have been good to deal with.

Being late to the game is my style unfortunately. I imagine I'll just wait it out. Had been considering other cars such as a supra, certain other bmw's(see what I did there) or a cayman. But the gr86 really seems like it could fit the bill at a reasonable price for a brand new car.

I really appreciate all the info you've shared in this thread. I will be keeping a close eye on your updates.

I would say third in line at Kelowna is a good position to be in, considering everything! Dealers should get plan numbers for 2023 sometime next month, telling them how many total GRs they can expect to receive for the calendar year. This will give us a better idea overal. We are expecting most regular Toyotas to have a lower plan than 2022, but the 86 is a bit different being built by Subaru and all
