Got new wheels, tires, Killer B exhaust tip extenders and fender flares installed. Also switched from Power Stop Track Day pads back to stock since I won't be able to get back on track until September.
The offset calculator numbers I ran made me think that I was going to need to roll, pull or cut the fenders under the flares, but the two body shops I took the car to said it doesn't look like there will be any rubbing. The most difficult part was installing the exhaust tips since one of the flange heads sheared off. I tried to get the sheared bolt out with a center punch, left hand drill bit and some penetrating oil, but no luck. I think I may need to buy a new exhaust tip and find a way to get the existing one off. I've had my eye on some Hipermax S coilovers, but now I'm not sure about moving away from stock suspension if it means I might have rubbing and have to change the fenders.

Also coilovers don't mean you have to rub, they're height adjustable so you can run as low or as high as you want. You could run stock height and still have much better handling. |

Not today, but installed an oil pressure gauge. Prosport EVO series digital white/green. Installed on the top galley port with a Killer B adapter. Installed into the top left corner of the fuse box using a fuse tap. I installed it into an import image racing 3d printed mount. It works ok, but has reduced air coming out of the vent because it doesn't extend to the duct.

Went to the first autocross event this season. It was a lot of fun and a big learning experience. Last season was the first time I tried it and had so much fun. I went couple of times in my previous car Infiniti M37x - it was fun but very heavy and understeery. I also tried my brothers Mk5 VW Golf on lowering springs and summer tires, that felt like a much better handling car.
But going to a small RWD car was a bit of a different experience. First run was a blur, I don't even remember anything. I was just trying to stay on course and keep the car from doing a 180. Probably because the Premacies don't have much grip even the stock engine has more than enough power to oversteer the car if your not careful with the throttle application. After I got back I took a deep breath, ran through the course in my mind again and after that my runs were more thoughtful you could say. I was trying to fix the mistakes the instructor was telling me about. Because of the large amount of participants that day we only had 4 runs each, first 4 runs I had 47.9-47.6. And the last run I really focused on proper lines and managed to improve my time by more then a second to 46.5. Which got me to 3rd place in PAX in novice class out of 20. Pretty happy about that. Overall would recommend everyone to try it out, you can really push your car and learn its limits in a relatively safe environment. |

Yup, autocross is great. And starting with the lower grip primacy tires you'll have more fun and more easily learn the car's behavior at/over the limit. It's funny how going "slower" to better focus on your lines often ends up being faster when you aren't able to really get the course in your head. If you haven't already done it, a good alignment (with the help of camber/crash bolts) can really help.

Fixed my sway bar knock, fixed the preload on my sway bar, set it to zero preload when car is on the ground.
Installed Hawk HPS pads on the front for some spirited street duty, definitely last much much longer than the stock pads. Also took off the Subaru text badge, much cleaner without it. Sent from my SM-S908U1 using Tapatalk |
