I've been really hesitant to cut into the hood. If I can't get this system to cool properly I'll end up putting the car back to stock and selling it.
So I'm still working out how to better direct air flow through the radiators. Building on CSG Mike's suggestion of trimming the little wings at the front air inlet, I've removed them and boxed the intercooler in with some thick rubber material. I also boxed in the bottom/top/sides between the intercooler -> radiator around the SC cooler so air has nowhere to go but intercooler -> SC cooler (and around it) -> radiator. I didn't take any pics of the inside work (its nothing pretty that's for sure) but I did take a before / after of the front bumper area. Before: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ijkFhHdwSvEndyj4A After: https://photos.app.goo.gl/qNxQ6UqCoCJeYE9fA I'm headed back to the track next Friday and so far the temperature should be roughly in the middle of the last two events when I was overheating. I'll post an update and maybe some more pics if I pull the bumper cover off before then. |

less than 3 months left in 2019, and yet still no CARB tune for 2017+ 86 from Jackson Racing?

I consider myself lucky to have a 2017 for the Edelbrock kit. For some reason, they got 2017 CARB approved but not 18+. However, if JR got theirs approved for 2017, I'd switch in a heartbeat because of that stupid vacuum actuated bypass valve.

I would say the JR dual radiator oil cooler is _not_ up to FI track duty and the product page for it should list this explicitly. Over the winter I'll rip it out and go with a dedicated oil cooler. I've read a few threads where people have noticed the ECU pulling timing above 230F, and seen a dyno video where multiple runs had power results all over the place as the ECU appears to be extremely sensitive to temperature changes. My guess is with FI this car can only be adequately cooled for hard track use with a very large cooler. Seeing as I'd really like to be running <230F at full tilt I don't think I'll give the JR track cooler a shot, I'm looking to piece together my own larger cooler as I don't drive the car in the winter. Here's some pictures of my arts and crafts project to create a air shroud around the different cooling components for anyone's future reference: |

I haven't received the louvers yet but that tells me I'm going to have to get the dedicated oil cooler anyway :/

Two questions:
1. Are there any vendors outside California for the JR C38 system for a 2015 FRS (to avoid sales tax)? Feel free to pm me. 2. Is the JR oil cooler the best option to complement the C38 system? Thanks in advance! Have a great weekend.

They want us in the car community to pay for all their liberal social asinine policies. Come on California wake up, vote these idiots out of office, so you can at least change your damn oil in your own drive way. Place has lost their mind. So glad I have moved my grandson out of Sacramento back down to north west Ga.
