Has anyone actually had the recall work done on their car?

I got mail in December from Subaru stating that my car must be brought in for the recall and that Subaru is in the process of ordering the parts. It said I will be contacted for further details on when to bring my car in. That was 3 months ago. Am I missing something or is it actually taking this long to get the parts?

This might be a Canada thing. I got the same mail with no followup and as far as I know it's the same for another buddy of mine with a 2013.

It has been reported that some dealers have taken a long time to get the parts in. However, three months does seem like a long time.

I suggest you contact your dealer for an update.

At this point, not a single additional person will be doing the valve spring recall.
I never was going to do the recall, and now I just feel that much more convinced.

I'm waiting until I see how this all sorts out but was going to sell the BRZ at the end of the year anyway. Thinking of just selling back to the dealer and then let them take the risk on doing the recall.

I'm not kidding, all that is news to me. forgive me, I'm a full time student and am writing securities exams and taxation exams every week so I don't have time to stay up to date, thank you for the posts though. So they're recalling cars and the engines are failing? I'm not surprised, they're obviously hastily re-installing the engines and messing something up

I think the comment insinuates that you had to navigate to the subforum housing all of these claims, to ignore them, and create your own thread rather than reading even likely the top 2 threads, which would've answered this question.

Also, a lot of us are just on edge as we fight with companies for good will and warranty repairs after our engines died premature deaths.

Yeah, we've gotten the recall work done. 10/10 would do again

Not stupid but you had time to post so you could have done a quick look first.
There are two Ontario cars listed in the failed after repair category. Both had their engines replaced without issue by the dealer. I suspect we will see a much lower failure rate here since our techs have to be licensed and may be several levels better than those in the US. One of the threads explains the difference between the qualifications.
The issue was with the removal and/or application of the sealant on the covers. They were blocking the oil channels and the engines were spinning bearings. Subaru updated the work instructions to very clearly show what has to be done to avoid the issues. I believe we will see a drop off in the failures.

I don't want to point out the fact that the New Topic button is at the top, away from the other posts, but I understand. Hopefully you can get through to them and get what you need done, from my 10 mins of research it seems like more often than not, persistence is getting them to fix everything for free.

That's super reassuring, thank you. If I was in a position where my engine fucked up from the recall, I literally wouldn't have the time to fight for them to fix it let alone have the money to cover any damages
