1 flight of steps to my office in the basement.

But I go to the pool 3-4 times a week and that is 11 miles each way.

A bit of height to get out of the road spray, more torque to pass quickly without having to be in 3rd or 4th, quieter, better sound system, etc. Also, if it were uglier I would care less about the rock chips...

Everything you said is also true, but when I drive the FRS to work, I prefer to take back roads time penalties be damned.

I'm with Tcoat on this. My commute is different. I "work from home," but I'm in other people's offices 80% of my time. So my commute is anywhere from 10 feet to 442 km (275 miles to the most distant end of my territory). I've been driving this car for the job for five years now, and it's fantastic for long highway drives, heavy city traffic and everything in between.

What's more, I also fly to Texas and/or Oklahoma once a month and rent cars while I'm out there to drive long Texas distances to the small towns where my clients are. I'll have a couple of hours in a rental tomorrow to go north of Austin. Thus I get a monthly reminder of what it's like to drive other cars. Some are really good commuters (the Juke has to be the best one I've had), but not a single one has been better than the BRZ.

Most of the myth around this car not being a good commuter is that small sports cars in general are not all that comfortable. I grew up with British sports cars that would beat the shit out of you in a two hour drive. You'd show up exhausted, wind burned and stinking of gas fumes. You'd bake in the summer and freeze in the winter. Every bump in the road would take a month off the lifespan of your teeth. Your ears would ring from blasting the radio loud enough to hear it over the wind, engine and road noise. It was a blast.

The BRZ is like a luxury car compared to that. People now are just whiny little girls.

Wow! Anything to fix other than wear items? (maybe I should just look up your post history). I'm in Montreal, however I will be driving from/to off-island. I'll definitely pick up some Blizzak's for winter.

Sounds like going from a Miata to an 86

In the car? 0, and absolutely love it that way.

But it's a 1km walk to the train, which drops me at the back door of the building I work in ~15 minutes later (I think it's a technicality that it's not the train station, but it really is. Or maybe there's no technicality, and it just drops me at work.)

I've done 80 minutes each way give or take in the car, and I've done 100+ minutes each way with only ~15 minute in the car, the rest train (and a tiny bit of a walk on the other end) and I love having that time back in my life. Plus the extra walk helps keep me from being excessively un-healthy.

93km to work each morning, 93km home in the evening. Four day weeks.

Thankfully very light traffic on account of living on the very edge of town and work being well out of town.

24 km round trip 5 days a week.

The best part of the work day is driving my 86 to and from.

Fuel up once every 2 weeks like clockwork.

Doesn't get much better than this...

40 miles (64KM) each direction for an 80miles/128km round trip typically 5 days per week.

I'm with @Tcoat and @extrashaky in the #86CommuteRocks club, although mine is a mix of 4-lane and rural roads.

At last fueling I was at 138,079 Miles/222,217 kilometers. No unusual repairs.
