I think they did an excellent job with the gen 2. But I don't think I will be replacing my '15 with a new one.
I'm kinda looking forward to what Toyota will do with it and I have high hopes for an AWD GR Corolla. (Hi André).

YEAH! I saw that, crazy numbers for a 3 cylinder and probably reliable too. Such a shame it's not available in North America, I would be all over it.

2nd generation

Personally like the look of the new BRZ. Very curious to see how toyota is gong to differentiate itself from Subaru. I am thinking more agressive looks. As i go through the university years with my son (3 more to go) I get to ponder what comes after. Andres choices of supra and c8 are definately top of mind for me as well, however during these university years we will see the realease of the new STI and 400 Z and perhaps a new RX9 offering from Mazda. Nice to see folks here again.

Stay safe all!!!!

If the enders based upon the camo mules are even close then the Toyota is actually be less severe and aggressive this time around.

One of the reasons I picked up a 1st gen BRZ this summer was because I was afraid that Toyota would screw up the replacement's design the way they've done with some other models recently.

Well, I'm glad to see that at least the Subi version is not bad, although it's more cluttered and less cohesive than I would like. But that's not a deal breaker for me. I also think the C8 is cluttered and could use some cleaning up but that didn't stop me from buying one. And the camo'ed prototypes hint that the Toyota version will have a front end that's more appealing to me personally.

So that leads me to the second reason why I bought one of the last Gen 1's: now I can be happy waiting for several years before trading it in, letting the initial buying frenzy die down and any minor glitches to be solved.

Of course, if either Toyo or Subi releases a special edition in yellow, I may be very very tempted...

I'm just glad the platform is still in production, and still has the RWD+manual formula, even if I don't buy another one myself.

Thanks, it sure has! I miss the loitering back when our cars were new.

I should pop by your shop, I saw that you moved to a new location!

We're not as dumb as the Supra community trading in the old model for a new one with 25 HP more.

Supra or C8 for me. But would love to flog the new 86 around Bogie, can probably get it in under 2:30.

Wouldn't be surprised if you manage a vomit-inducing time at Calabogie!

Seems like the Supra is the natural progression or upgrade to 86 owners.

I miss having a car to wrench on. It's been the longest 2 years since I sold my FRS! The CBR is fun, but it isn't quite the same. I'm probably just not as comfortable on a bike as in a car yet. Living in downtown Toronto now, too - can't make much use of a car. Sad life!

Hope y'all are keeping safe!

Merry Christmas all...

Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and looking forward to seeing all of you in the new year at car meets and social gatherings as life gets back to normal next summer. For now stay safe, responsible and vigilant until our turn comes up to help wipe out this virus.

Merry Christmas, Paul. The car was driven way too little in 2020 so definitely looking forward to some road trips in the New Year. Best Wishes to all for a happy and healthy 2021!

One good thing....

The last 4 Sundays I have gone out for a 5 hour cruise into the countryside. Zero traffic and perfect road conditions. Sad to see the ski hills closed. Not sure why that needs to be the case. Looks like another restricted summer coming up. Hopefully we can do a few more cruises in the area. Highway 65 is pretty good. Got lost on that road last weekend. LOL.
Stay safe all.
