Possible TOB Issues

https://www.reddit.com/r/ft86/commen...tm_name=iossmf

This sound goes away when pressing the clutch. I can hear it a little less while driving and on the gas pedal, comes back when coasting. Car has 29K Miles, 2018.

Check your pulleys. That has a distinct rattle to it that I have never heard with a TOB.
I am in no way convinced it is the TOB unless you have a failure far different that the rest I have heard.

I checked them, I can hear them if I get really close to them, and then sound like always do. But is not as loud as it should be, to be listening to it from inside the car. The only part that leads me to believe is the TOB is because the sound goes away when pressing the clutch.

I don't have issues shifting, and the clutch feels fine. So I really don't know where to start. Maybe just needs grease?

that's normal sound. all have that. i even have that after replacing with brand new TOB.

I thought exactly same as you're. when opened up transmission to check and TOB was fine. i replaced clutch and TOB anway

if TOB is failing, you'll hear more than this sound

Well that puts me a little at ease. I know these cars are not quiet at all. Is just one of those new sounds that got me wondering. Though it has been reported that certain TOBs go out around the same mileage as mine.

Not sure it is a "normal" sound since I never had it on either of my cars but doesn't sound like the TOB either.

There is no mistaking the sound of a bad TOB

The TOB issue was pretty much from the 13s to the very early 17s when they changed the part. Even then not all of them even had one go.
If your is a TOB you will have the honour of being the very first post 17 car to suffer from it.

It seems I have the honor, at least on the forums, of the first reported case of a fuel pump replacement, and also, the first one that had a problem post-repairs.

I don't like these honors.

Well the fuel pumps was a recall so it doesn't count.

Mine makes the same noise even after installing a new bearing, clutch fork, fork pivot and clutch. It's definitely not the sound of a bad TOB. I'm starting to think its the clutch fork rattling on its pivot.

So I just turned the car on after coming home from work. No noise anymore. Fixed! It only comes back I’m assuming after the vehicle has been driven and then re-started. Kind of odd.

Is definitely something something with the transmission. The car absolutely quiet in the morning when I first start it. The sound comes on by the time I get to work, and it goes away every time I press the clutch. I have no idea what would cause it.

This is again the total opposite of the "normal" TOB issue. It usually is worst when the car is cold and improves when it warms up.
