Well Im thinking of when you use a resistor on a seat that doesnt have airbags you plug it in to the body end of the harness to turn the light off and for the rest of the airbags to function normally. I have no idea what would happen if you plugged one into the seat itself as well

I was never able to get it functioning as stock, just with the airbag always on needing the belt to be buckled (to stop the chime). Sorry I can't be more help. Wish I had a solution for you!

I'm using Techstream on mine tomorrow. I wonder if the occupancy sensor needs to be cleared of its codes. It's independent of the main ECU.

I was able to get it to partially work by swapping the sensor and buckle from my FR-S seat to the BRZ seat, but the occupancy sensor seems to need calibration as it's way too sensitive.

I'll know more tomorrow and will post up here if I find a resolution.

So I assume that there is no solution so far?

I have a guess.

Is it because some BRZ seats do not have the sensor in it?

This one.

I know people take it out and install under floor mat when installing aftermarket seats.

So if you but a pair of seats missing the sensor on passenger side, you will have the airbag issue.

If the seat is 100% oem, should not have such a issue?

Curious, is it legal to remove the passenger seat and just leave it out?

there's no law i'm aware of that demands that a vehicle has a specific number of seats. just laws requiring safety restraints for the occupants within. so as long as there's no one attempting to ride on a bucket or folding chair, i believe it's legal.

Hmm .. i'd check that though. After hearing story from my colleague, who needed every year for his motorcycle MOT to change spacer back to passenger seat (both are "OE" bits, just because his motorcycle was initially registered as two seater) .. i'd expect all kind of idiocy in some local rules. And while there are no rules, what specific part needs to be, very possible, that there are rules, that one cannot legally modify any OE safety equipment.

It might very well be one of those grey areas that no law explicitly says, but the wording of the laws implies that a certain number of seats and restraints are always present in the vehicle.

So anyone else have experience with this? It seems like swapping the FRS sensor over keeps the dash light off but triggers the always on?

I have the chime disabled so that would be OK in the end for me.

On most things like this you need to swap the module under the seat AND the seat belt latch assembly. After doing so your going to have to re-calibrate the OCS weight sensors. Of which you'll need some weights and a higher-end scan tool to do it.
