DIY - Whiteline Positive Shift Kit

This DIY guide can be used for other vendor's bushings.

@cobrabyte, @post_break and myself were just cranking these installs out. We did this while installing the rear shifter bushings for our gearbox. Thanks to both of them for the assists!

As I posted in the Rear Shifter Bushing DIY http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19767, this is a good bang for buck mod. This Whiteline bushing combined with the Perrin shifter bushing and good gearbox fluid, makes a dramatic difference in shifter feel. Trust us, this is something you will want to do. The notchy, crunchy feeling of the Aisin is smoothed out. 3-2 downshifts feels like an unlocked feature. Can't be happier.

We did not do discrete mod testing, so we can't comment on this item's singular effectiveness. We also cannot comment on the use of this on automatic gearboxes.

I am not responsible for any damage as a result of this modification. Remember to be safe!

Installation Steps

Raise the car. A lift makes this 100x easier, but if you use stands, please lift the entire car onto stands to keep it level. Refer to @GrimmSpeed DIY here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10111

Whiteline does not say to remove the frontpipe. We did and it made the install 100x easier

Can definitely tell a difference since putting this bushing in. Much less slop when the suspension is upset.

If there is any additional noise, the howling from the tire and exhaust note cover that up.

Great writeup, thanks!

I had one of these installed when my car was on the lift getting the Evo3 catback. To be honest, I don't notice a whole lot of difference in normal shifting, but I think the difference is supposed to be more noticeable when you're really laying into the gas and then doing a quick upshift.

I should've done the Perrin Shifter Rear Bushing at the same time, I bet that would've made for a huge difference in conjunction with the Whiteline Positive Shift Kit and the Motul that went into the tranny and diff.

Thanks very much! I'm half way through with this install and was wondering how the hell they removed that cradle brace. I had a feeling that the mid pipe had to be removed, this confirms that.

Edit: finished installing the bushing. Definitely feels much more precise. Little bit noisy though, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

This may seem kinda pointless, but do you think the Whiteline kit used in conjunction with Perrin's new transmission support would be beneficial or even possible? https://www.perrinperformance.com/br...mission-stiffy

Great DIY tutorials by the way, all are very professionally done. Thanks for supporting this platform!
