How the fuck is this comparable?

I mean come on.

I was recently hit in my rear passenger side of the bumper in my work parking lot as I was backing out of my parking space. The insurance fixed it in 2 days but I did have to get a new trunk lid in the fiasco. Before the repair, the trunk closed under its own weight at about a 6 inch height. Now I have to absolutely slam it, making the same action as if I am abusing a short elderly woman down on the ground.

If you think that is normal then you obviously haven't been driving for very long....

I can attest to this as well. went from a trunkless FRS to a BRZ,

the BRZ does required more force to close the trunk, at first I though my locking mechanism was not working well.

I even took it apart to realigned both of the lock and latch.

its a tiny bit better.

LOL Nothing like reopening a 4 year old thread to argue with a guy that has been banned for over a year.

Since it came up... I took off the two rubber bumpers on the trunk and it closes much easier now. Those bumpers are not needed.

I would disagree. They keep the trunk tight and aligned.

I have the FRS wing kit from Toyota still in the box. It comes with heavier struts, so I imagine it would make the trunk harder to close.

Nope, not the same thing.

I have the same issue, I have to physically slam the trunk for it to engage the locking mechanism, otherwise the trunk will NOT close. The force is excessive and I'm sure over the years it will cause various components to fail.

I could stop using the trunk just as you could stop pressing the start button; but as I have a trunk, I want to use it, just as you want to drive your car.

I have been waiting to see if the force required is reduced after a few months of usage. If not I am going to take the locking mechanism apart and see if I can reduce the force required to close the boot.

You can crack the tail light(s) by slamming the trunk. OOPS!

Mine closes and fully latches all on it's own. Sometimes even when I don't want it too.

My 2013 brz with factory spoiler , initially needed an extra downwards force to close the boot (trunk) , but after nearly five years of use it closes easily.
I guestimate the rubber seal and stoppers compress with age and then it closes easily.

Mine closes quite easily. I had to train the future wife not to slam it since it weighs about as much as a can of tuna
