Odb2/canbus flexibility
I'm contemplating doing a modification to my dash center cluster to replace the gauges with a full digital display with custom design, using a spare modified cluster unit so that it appears stock but comes alive when powered up.
The question I have is, how much data is accessible over canbus/odb2, are things like warning lights and light indication on the stock cluster accessible through the cars canbus?, would be interested in doing a detailed writeup on the project if I can, just want to check if its even feasible before I invest in trying! Additionally, will the ECU throw any codes I the stock cluster is not connected? |

this is a topic debated by many track car owners. some say the car cannot be started without the poem cluster. it all depends how good you are at electronics.
it is certainly not for the faint of heart.
