Go ahead, tell me how it is. It's not that different here. How much time have you spent here to know? . I never met anyone in real life who says "aboot" although a youtuber from BC does I've noticed.

If I ran respiratory patients therapy, there is no way I'd have any people not fully vaccinated working there.

If I was responsible for respiratory patient therapy, there is no way I'd have any people not fully vaccinated working there. Let them work with something less sensitive, or if they simply deny vaccination without valid medical reason, be given warning.

I don't disagree but according to the cdc, even immunized people can transmit the delta variant quite easily so it would still be for personal protection more than anything else.

By reinstating masking guidelines due to the ease of transmission of the delta variant by immunized people they've given anti vaxxers another reason to hedge. Its unfortunate but imo gives those already skeptical of government agencies another bone to chew on

I know 2 tuckers. One's a car, the other sold bootleg movies in tech school.

Neither of which were things to be proud knowing.

Yeah but as long as masking rules are in effect I can put off getting my teeth cleaned. Hell, I'm sporting a full on porn stache under my mask.

Another advantage I have found to wearing a mask, is that it keeps the drool from dripping off my chin -

The acid bath of personal acrimony aside, several things about stories on the news are both heartbreaking, and deeply angering.

It seems at this point several things are inescapable. First, the current surge in Covid cases is real. Second, it was preventable. Third, a chorus of voices both on this board and off predicted both the surge we're witnessing and the one(s) to come. And fourth, the vaccine debate is an indisputably political question.

That takes me to the heart breaking part. The current surge is putting health resources nationwide under new pressures, subjecting front line health workers to stresses similar to those they faced 18 months ago. We did not have to be here. And yet, we are. And, that's heartbreaking. So now - we're back to mask mandates with the same chorus of voices whining about them, and refusing to comply.

This thread gained its initial momentum because of a lie. That lie was that the vaccines altered human DNA. Since then we've seen over 250 pages in which the same lie has been debated and new lies have been promoted, exposed, and replaced by yet more lies.

We've seen the introduction of all manner of straw men and red herrings apparently with the goal of obfuscating the basic questions and obscuring the culpability of those responsible. Because whether these individuals accept it or not, they do bear responsibility. And, I for one, blame them.

That leads me to the deep abiding anger and disgust I feel toward some of the participants in this "discussion." We did not have to be here. We are, because of you and those like you. You know who you are. Cajoling you hasn't worked. Offering the truth hasn't worked. Attempting to reason with you hasn't worked. Shaming you hasn't worked. You are incorrigible. To borrow a phrase from Walt Kelly's Pogo, "We have met the enemy and it is YOU.'
